Yesterday was a J-Call weekend day, as is today.
It was a very good one, I have to say.
The day included:
- G restrarting gymnastics. I had to drag the other two with me but it wasn’t terrible.
- a 5 mile run (10:15/mi pace, didn’t feel too bad but my HR was in the 170s by the end — I blame the heat?). I listened to some of your running podcast recs! My podcast queue getting truly OUT OF CONTROL . . .
- kids’ play date in Miami, at our Miami Beach BFF’s house and then the Poppet Project
- takeout pizza from Mister01 which now has a location near us – yesss. AND Josh came home before 6 pm and brought this with him!
- ~90 minutes spent tidying up AND going though my Sunday Basket (long overdue). I even filed the kids’ saved artwork from the school year!!! This was so satisfying.
Podcast episode recommendation: From Tim Ferriss Show – this guest compilation episode is fantastic. I love Sam Harris and greatly enjoyed the others as well.
TODAY
Strength workout (total strength w/ Andy week 3, workout #4)
Plan week & put it on the board!
Visit from Bebe & Poppy
Pool, weather permitting
More reading of French Braid (my summer reading pace seems to be accelerating; I’m almost done)
Next weekend we drop the big kids off at the airport early Sunday morning – ahhhh! (Assuming they pass their COVID PCR & rapid. Every finger crossed.)
Podcast recommendation: This compilation from the Tim Ferriss show was excellent. Love Sam Harris and the others were inspiring and interesting as well.

1. On a call weekend do you/J have to physically be at the hospital or within a certain mile radius?
2. I finished “Lessons in Chemistry” last night. Have you read that? (I think so But I cannot Remember…sorry).
Hi! To clarify, I am not on call this weekend – Josh is (I abbreviated it J-Call, sorry if that is unclear!). He had to work ~9a-5p yesterday but it varies. He can get called in at any time including the middle of the night.
For me, I usually have to see patients in the hospital for 2-4 hours but then just have to answer phone calls/enter orders/etc.
I love the new Tim Ferriss podcast format too. I hope he does it more this kind. he’s such a thoughtful thinker and his recommendations are so good. I like sam Harris part the most too.
heat definitely increases your heart rate. I’ve been living in tropical country for 5 years and my heart rate goes for 140s for easy runs, when I was in the US was probably mid-120.
I think our area counts as tropical! I’ve always felt like my HR has been higher on runs than a lot of people even when in really good shape … maybe if I do some coaching I can figure that out!
Oh my gosh I love the pink room 🙂
Genevieve picked it – it’s her room! It doesn’t always appear THAT pink but agree it’s quite pink in the pic!!
