blogged birthdays: a review
one of the things i love most about having a blog is being able to look back and see what i was thinking/doing years ago. it gives me so much perspective and i truly see it as a learning tool for personal growth. it’s also just fun to relive lovely moments . . . such as birthdays!
■ in 2005, i declared, “i still read multiple trashy magazines and i care what lindsay lohan and christina aguilera wear to various awards shows. but in many respects i feel older — wanting to sleep a nice 8 hours a night, lasting until midnight only on the rarest evenings out, and generally embracing routine. obsessing over desperate housewives (ha).” doesn’t sound like much has changed . . . other than linsday lohan.
■ in 2006, just days away from our wedding, i proclaimed “MY YOUTH IS OVER AND I AM OLD” and then proceeded to go off on a diatribe against skinny jeans. heh.
■ in 2007, i was totally lame and taught a kaplan PCAT class and didn’t even bother to post. on may 23, i reassured readers: “don’t worry, i’m not dead.”
■ may 20, 2008 looks very familiar! i was on call 5/17 (as ward intern), and had 5/20 off during the week – just like today. and, also much like today — i chose to fill the day with a massage/pedi as well as dinner at the lovely and intimate bonne soirée. hey, if it ain’t broke . . .
■ in 2009, josh and i were in napa valley and i spent the day tasting champagne! ahh, i love reading old vacation posts.

my happiness project
a while back, i decided i would start my own happiness project for my 30th year! each month, i will choose a theme to focus on — and i will take on projects and exercises designed to boost my own personal happiness. when i stop to think about it, i’m starting off relatively happy already, but i still think there is room for more . . . and life seems to be getting shorter (and going faster) by the minute.
this month’s theme will be mindfulness. this was the theme for the last month of gretchen rubin’s book, but i plan to both start AND end with this extremely important area.
and with that, i am going to end this post and spend a mindful morning performing a (cathartic!) clean-up of our apartment. with music, sunlight and a reward massage scheduled for 11, i really can’t think of a better way to spend the morning of my birthday! onward and upward . . .
