weekend (mostly) unplugged

October 27, 2014

Wonderful weekend.  I am tired from 13 miles of running and many hours of child lifting/chasing/playing.  Josh was on call, but somehow there was a great balance of family time, me time, and social time.

YAY.

Friday night: A and I went on a date!!  We attended a screening of Frozen at her school.  Cameron even had a babysitter, which was key because otherwise I don’t think I could have enjoyed the special time with Annabel nearly as much as I did while tending to both.  Note to self to do this every once in a while (and as they get older, I definitely want to do one-on-one ‘dates’ with them on a regular basis).

Saturday:
8 mile long run outside before anyone else was awake
Swim playdate in the AM
Birthday party at a play gym in the PM

A signed her card

Fun at Play-In (for the bday party).  We will definitely be back!

No naps save a couple of 15 minute stints in the car — for either kid.

What are naps for, anyway!?

Sunday:
Lovely playdate at South Pointe Park

2.5 hours of babysitting in the afternoon, which allowed me to go to the gym and shower in peace
Family dinner at SILs

For a Josh call weekend, this was just about perfect.

PS: I lost my fitbit.  Currently, I don’t really miss it.  I DO still walk up the steps to my office at work, but I’m not sure any other lasting behavior changes were made.

PPS: Ditching the Distraction has been going well.  I stayed largely off of social media (save for a few minutes of browsing in the early AM) and did not miss that, either.  More on an update post later this week!
