hug your loved ones and enjoy the process

Yesterday, the wonderful man you see above passed away.

Dr. Harold Unger is Josh’s grandfather — they are actually a 4-generation physician family.  And I’m sure he was an amazing surgeon.  But even more importantly, he was such an amazing, caring, loving person, and an incredibly devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Everyone in Miami Beach knows him.  He is renowned for his kindness and wit — a beautiful and rare combination.

I met him at the ripe old age of 22, and was as close to him as my own grandparents.

His vibrance and sharpness never waned — he drove over to our house just last month for Cameron’s birthday party.
I have cried and felt sad, but I also feel awe and inspiration at the amazing life Pop-Pop lived.  I know he enjoyed and appreciated his 89 years to the fullest extent possible.
I will really miss him.
