I’m still not quite caught up from my vacation, but I’m getting there. This week*, our nanny took A&C home with her on Wednesday afternoon, and is bringing them back this morning. The arrangement translated into 2 kid-free evenings and mornings, and allowed me to catch up with work and rest — or at least get close. (Taking vacation = coming back to an overstuffed patient schedule AND an electronic inbox overflowing with lab results and patient requests — not the most welcoming reentry. But still worth it.)
Having the extra childcare was much appreciated. And certainly a luxury, but one that many working men with SAHM wives probably get to enjoy fairly frequently. So I am refusing any pangs of mommy-guilt that may attempt to worm their way into my consciousness.
It’s Friday, which means the weekend is near! Hopefully today will be an uber-productive work day, because I’d love to finish out the week feeling reasonably on top of things. Then, Josh is on call. It’s going to be a hot and sticky weekend here. I have a playdate figured out for Sunday morning, but nothing for Saturday yet. Ideas for indoor kid activities that are not children’s museums? (I may be museum-ed out for a little while after our vacation . . . )
Off to take advantage of the rest of the AM and run. It’s “only” 82 degrees this morning. Ummm . . . yay?
* At her suggestion!

GREAT thought of the day. I need to write that out and look at it on the regular. Glad you don’t feel guilty, why should you?
Love the idea of having your babysitter take the kids for the night. So smart!
