Part 1: Accountability question
Listener E wrote in asking about a place for planning accountability. I love this idea, but wonder about what the best platform would be! You can imagine I am not excited about starting a BLP Facebook group for this purpose, but maybe some other format (WhatsApp thread or ???).
Nothing would make me happier than BLP listeners swapping goals lists back and forth and sharing organizing strategies along the way, so it’s something to think about. Ideas welcome!
Part 2: Inamio Review
I mentioned this before on this site, and received some interesting commentary on the legality of a planner ‘dupe’! Here’s the summary of a previous case between EC + a very similar line from Michaels, sent to me by lawyer/listener Nicole!
This planner is extremely affordable ($17-18 on amazon) and highly functional — as long as you don’t mind a small grid (the tiniest bit smaller than Hobonichi – which is already small!). The bulk of this planner is made up of weekly pages almost identical to that found in the Hobonichi cousin, except on thicker paper. I found it very gel pen/mildliner friendly. The paper IS a mild cream color though – not bright white.
Here’s my sample layout (smaller size):
The larger size (8.5″ x 11″) has larger gridlines but is quite a behemoth. It would work for a planner that stays on one’s desk but would not be welcome in my work bag.
Please keep the BLP questions coming! A reminder you can always send me an audio clip by using the Speakpipe app below. I promise it’s quite easy ๐

I also ended up buying that planner (the large version) after the rec from your reader. Right now I’m using it for a time tracking exercise (started yesterday).
I donโt have any brilliant ideas about how to host it (FB is good for things like that but I appreciate your social media hesitations, maybe Patreon?) but I would love to have an accountability group for my goals, or even just a way to connect with your listener community!
I just bought the planner! Hopefully I actually use it.
I also bought the 8.5×11 of the Inamio based on your recent post. That’s my preferred size in general, and I usually keep my planners at home. Very happy with it so far!
As much as I’d like to avoid Facebook, it does seem that their Groups provide the best functionality for people being able to share with each other. I know people who have created accounts with no friends and only use those specific accounts to interact with groups. This helps keep the feed uncluttered.
What about a Discord? I’d definitely join!
Agreed! Discord is perfect for this sort of purpose
I was coming on here to suggest Discord or Mighty Nerworks!
Thank you for another episode! I agree that Facebook is really good for groups. I recently joined a podcast audience community and just bookmark the group directly. So much to learn from other people’s posts and comments. I think it would be a great addition to your empire ๐
I tried to comment yesterday but it didn’t go through for some reason. I am a member of a patreon group and they use something called “Might Networks.” It basically looks and feels like facebook, but it’s only for private groups, or at least that is my understanding. So it’s like the group function of FB w/out all the other distractions. So that might be an option to look into, especially if you want to stay off FB but want to be able to communicate w/ BLP listeners.
I am just now listening to the episode – but jumped on to suggest Mighty Networks as well. I am part of a couple groups that used to be on Facebook and now are on Mighty Networks. They are “private” to a certain extent and very easy to navigate as a user. I think there is a charge for you to set it up – every Mighty Networks group I have been a part of is paid – but my guess is you could make it low cost enough to make it worth it.
I am really intrigued by Mighty Networks and think this might be the direction I try! Thank you both!
I like mighty networks and have been on several groups on there. I find it less clunky than discord.
I also bought the large inamio. Wow, I thought the Planner Pad would work well for me, but found the month pages were too small. The inamio is wonderful, with those beautiful big two page monthly calendars. And I can do all my lists on the weekly pages. I love all the blank graph paper for meeting notes, and bullet jounal type collections AND I did not realize that I really prefer vertical Year at a glance rather than the horizontal months in the Planner Pad.
