Today’s episode is all about Q5 – the last two months of the year! I share my thoughts on why this time period feels “special”, the inherent fun parts and challenges, and my current approach to goal setting in this celebratory season.

For your open house, we did a Sunday morning hot chocolate and cinnamon buns (Swedish fika style) and it worked really well as a casual, low prep hang. I feel like people have so many evening invites that a casual morning hang is really nice. We’ve not got time before Christmas so are going to shift it until January.
Great episode! I like the reframe of the categories you chose. I love this season, but also it is A LOT! I just did my November planning but think I’ll try looking at December as well and see if Q5 might be a good option for my planning purposes as well. I just started a new job 2 weeks ago, so my last 2 months of the year really do have a different feel.
I loved today’s episode and your reframing the domains. I may try that, too, to change it up. I have a big work event in early November and once that’s done, I’m going to plan out the rest of the year.
Also, I ordered a Hobonichi Cousin this year after hearing so many good things. It arrived today and I’m looking forward to setting it up. Thanks for all of your photos and descriptions. It made it easy to see what it’s like in real life.
ooh I’m so excited for you to get to try the Cousin!! So exciting!!
HI Sara, This was a very helpful idea for me! I’m on inpatient Wards in November so not much time, but I have my days off where i can pencil in things…like buying christmas tree, etc. And helpful to start to think about gift buying. I’m on call on black friday…which may be a good thing:) but I can look online earlier in the week when I’m off. BTW love the mini plotter for taking notes while in the hospital. It fits nicely in my pockets. Looking forward to BLP at home!
and what a lovely little burst of joy to be able to whip out your Plotter mini in the hospital, i am sure!!!
(residency is when I started becoming obsessed with planning, for that reason. the times i DID have control of my time I wanted to make the most of it!!!)
After listening to your episode I had a huge brainwave and used one of my many blank planner pages to list all the holiday fun that had been stressing me out. I made four quadrants: Solo (going to the fancy xmas market or reading holiday rom coms), At Home (wearing holiday pjs, building gingerbread houses – there are tons of these), With Kids (seasonal things I can do with the kids, out of the house, during their many days off school), and Family Outings.
Then I broke my huge, formless list into categories and marked the ones I consider most important with red ink. Now I can see what I should make time for in my own schedule, what I can pull from on a yucky afternoon inside. And when I approach my less-holiday-loving husband about family activities, I’ll be giving him a list of six things rather than 30. This 15-minute exercise made me feel a thousand times more centered and organized about the next couple months!
YAYYYYY! LOVE IT!!
