Episode #227: Planning Your Spending with Jen Smith and Introducing Planning By Season 2025

December 2, 2024

In today’s episode, I kick off an “organizing special topics” series with Jen Smith, cohost of the Frugal Friends podcast and author of Buy What You Love Without Going Broke (Bookshop / Amazon), out this January.

We chat about intentionality around spending, saving, and how to tackle both short- and long-term financial goals. The Frugal Friends aim to get listeners/readers to think about budgeting in a different way by focusing on spending on what matters rather than deprivation.

Announcement: Planning By Season 2025 is open for registration! This is a year-long course featuring structured planning sessions designed to fit each season, with mid-season check-ins to assess progress and provide a forum for accountability! This year, the check-ins will also feature special topics, such as a Digital Detox discussion (with access to prior Digital Detox workbook) in Season 1.

Space is particularly limited in this program as it’s designed to be small enough that we all get to know each other a bit! I have very much enjoyed following along in the progress of my 2024 Planning By Season crew — they tackled home projects, work transitions, and so much more.

PS: If you’re looking for the December newsletter, please forgive me — it will hit your inbox later this week! I had to move this forward a bit as I’m a bit sick right now.
