BLP Ep #276: Planning Spotlight: Annual Rituals, Spontaneity, and More with Jodi Wellman

November 10, 2025

truly one of my favorites!

In today’s episode, I have the pleasure of speaking once again with Jodi Wellman, author of You Only Die Once: How to Make it to the End with No Regrets. Today’s chat centers on all about the planning rituals that Jodi herself uses to ensure the (finite!) life she is living has all of the elements that make it feel truly well-lived. We get into the weeds about her monthly vision boards, planning brunch dates, and how one might actually PLAN IN some spontaneity (yes, such a thing is possible!). This episode will help you get excited and inspired to gear up to plan 2026.

Jodi can be found at her website and on instagram at @fourthousandmondays — plus her (free) newsletter comes out each Monday and is a wonderful way to start the week.

Other notes:

Fresh from BLP Live, I am clearly in 2026 planning mode — so in today’s episode, I mention the home version of the course! You can find registration info + more details here: BLP at Home 2026.

Yes, Dr. Sarah Hart-Unger, this episode does inform me that everyone can decide to get on board with – or not get on board with – Ms. Jodi Wellman’s monthly vision boards, of the way she plans specific dates for planning, and that the things that lead to spontaneity can be planned for. I wasn’t expecting her to designate some days not to think about planning at all, though. And yes, I agree that hotels will not kick her out when she’s doing plannings at hotels’ lobbies.

Loved this episode. And your idea to make this a series is genius!

On another note, can I suggest you had a link to pre-order your book here on your site? I’ve looked and not found one. Thanks!
