Explain what ended your last relationship?: well, it’s a story with a happy ending: i had to sever my ties with the PC when my dell basically imploded and i really wanted a prettier, better machine. now, the iBook and i are sublimely happy together, and i can tell it is a match that will last forever!
When was the last time you shaved? i think yesterday.
What were you doing this morning at 8 a.m.?: sleeping.
What were you doing 15 minutes ago? eating oatmeal and drinking coffee.
Are you any good at math?: i would say yes.
Your prom night? i went to 4 proms. the dresses were by far the most memorable parts.
Do you have any famous ancestors? i believe one of my paternal ancestors was some sort of confederate general. another took famous photographs of president roosevelt. another owned the stride-rite shoe corporation, but he was more rich than famous. and no, we didn’t get any of it.
Have you had to take a loan out for school? yes, for part of medical school. i have been very (perhaps undeservingly) lucky in this department.
Do you know the words to the song on your MySpace profile? i don’t really do myspace.
Last thing received in the mail? well, other than bills and magazines, a fabulous collection of gourmet coffee from a very generous and nice friend
How many different beverages have you had today? coffee only, so far.
Do you ever leave messages on people’s answering machine? sometimes i actually prefer the answering machine to the phone itself.
Who did you lose your CONCERT virginity to? (not counting the numerous classical performances i attended with my dad) the barenaked ladies in, i believe, 1995!
Do you draw your name in the sand when you go to the beach? no. i probably would if i were stranded on a desert island, though. not much else to do, right?
What’s the most painful dental procedure you’ve had? removal of 4 impacted wisdom teeth. well, not painful during due to the general anesthesia, but afterwards. i also found paying the bill for 3 cavity fillings last year very painful, in a different way.
What is out your back door? a tiny concrete patio, a lawn which is very nicely mowed right now, an old crumbling down tobacco-drying shed (yes, for real), and lots of trees.
Any plans for Friday night? i guess this would refer to next friday. that would be our hippocratic oath ceremony! lots of family. and dinner at elmo’s.
Do you like what the ocean does to your hair? i don’t like what anything does to my hair, other than a straightening iron.
Have you ever received one of those big tins of 3 different popcorns? no, and let’s keep it that way.
Have you ever been to a planetarium? definitely, but not for a long time.
Do you re-use towels after you shower? yes; is that bad?
Some things you are excited about? buying a dress today! tons of family visiting! graduating! life is actually pretty exciting right now.
What is your favorite flavor of Jell-O? none, really.
Describe your keychain(s)? no ‘keychain’ per se, but it is a rather non-streamlined mess of a big hulking VW key, house keys, little cards for the gym, CVS, kroger, and harris teeter, and a USB memory stick containing exactly one file, my ‘spondylolysis’ presentation for radiology.
Where do you keep your change? right now in a big plastic ‘UNC pediatrics’ cup that we got free when we interviewed.
When was the last time you spoke in front of a large group of people? that depends on how you define ‘large’. i guess my kaplan training class last week or that lovely spondylolysis presentation (how did that make it onto this survey twice?)
What kind of winter coat do you own? a puffy down white one and a long wool red one that i really liked when i bought it back in 2003 but that i’m getting a little tired of
What was the weather like on your graduation day? we’ll just have to see about that, won’t we?
Do you sleep with the door to your room open or closed? closed, to keep the stalkers and rapists away.
