so josh and i decided we would upgrade a bit from our chapel hill apartment. the commute might be a bit much, but it’s a small price to pay for this kind of acreage:
we were especially won over by the views off the balconies. . .
and the lovely hand-chiseled sculptures . . .
as well as the garden of exotic flowers.
so we will now be hiring approximately 30-40 house servants and culinary staff and 80 or so gardeners to tend our property. anyone want in? we’ll throw in a free bottle of rather mediocre north carolina wine made in our winery (i think it comes with the house or something).

obvi, just kidding (about everything except the mediocrity of the wine). we visited the biltmore estate today. it was quite impressive! the only thing that confused us was that if the money was so limitless, why do they have to charge us to see it? presumably it is to pay for upkeep and continued restoration, but i feel like they should have investments good enough to cover that. it was worth it anyway to see the beautiful rooms, indoor pool & bowling alley, and colorful gardens. they should shut down the winery and open a barbeque shop, though, because i really feel that we cannot grow great wine here. i’d love to be proven wrong, but i’ve just never been impressed.
in other news, she & him were great last night! zooey deschanel is very cute and has a fantastic voice. i am going to get their album now.
one more night here! we are going to hunker down in our lovely inn and have dinner here, hopefully watching the sun set over the mountains. i will be sad to leave!
