blahhhhhhhhhhhhh

November 7, 2008

i was thisclose to taking a 3am nap last night on call, but as soon as i announced this (and i mean, immediately), a nurse walked up, informed me that one of my micro-babies was dropping pressures and oxygen sats, and it all went downhill from there. i slept nada. the nanomunchkin was fine with a little dopamine (a preemie’s best friend!), but seriously, my night kind of sucked.

i was realizing that one of the most bizarre things about working for 30 hours in a row is seeing FOUR separate shifts of nurses. one shift is getting ready to leave when i come in at 5:45 AM, another shift takes over at 7 am, the night shift comes on at 7 pm, and another day shift at 7 am.

seriously? the more i take call, the more i realize how ridiculous it is.

in other news, UNC interview tomorrow! i am excited!
