okay, that lyric is from “manic monday”, and it’s friday. but still — WOW this month has flown by! i can’t believe we’re already in the middle of december and that i only have 10 days left of the precious elective life. i think i have finally embraced my current easy lifestyle, and now i just want to make the most of it in the time that i do have. luckily, i have a fun weekend planned!
weekend agenda
■ tonight: road trip to charlotte with my sister (josh has to work, so this is yet another girls-only adventure!).
■ on arrival: hopefully make it in time to pick our race numbers and timing chips up at the expo tonight! this is my sister’s first race (she is doing the 5K!) so i will have a great time showing her what to do with the stuff in her race bag. if we are too late, it’s cool because we can get them in the morning.
■ saturday AM: half marathon for me and 5K for my sister! i don’t really have a time goal for this race; i just want to run it feeling strong, and i want to feel good at the end! i am predicting something in the low-to-mid 1:50s (my PR is a 1:46:56 from last november). i feel like my training has been okay, but not slam-it-out-of-the-park fabulous.
■ saturday day: to be determined! we are likely going to have lunch with kath, and then i kind of want to do something touristy like a museum or something, but i haven’t figured out what. also, i might potentially want to check out anthropologie because i love that store but we don’t have one here! i will of course also find some time to post a race report like a good blogger.
■ saturday night: race-celebration dinner out with my sister somewhere in charlotte — i am hoping that kath has a good recommendation for us!
■ sunday AM: drive back to chapel hill/(raleigh for my sister) and do all the regular home-weekend stuff. although there will be no need for my usual long run!
whew! i am hoping that this week’s trend of finishing work at 3 pm still continues, because i haven’t packed yet! about to hit the gym for my last easy run before the race . . . exciting!

workout: 45 minutes elliptical. sadly, i didn’t do weights. oh well — that will be a project for post-race!
cooking: none because of my residency interview recruiting dinner! the italian place we tried was cute with decent food. i would go back, but not necessarily on my own $.
reading: an assigned paper on mold allergens which mainly debunked a lot of the mythical ‘sick building’-type ailments as NOT related to mold. it was kind of interesting.

good thing you didn’t do weights; you don’t want to be sore! just make sure you start doing them after the half, so that you don’t get injured.
good luck to you and your sister tomorrow!!

Ack good luck on the 1/2 marathon!! You probably won’t be checking this much since your weekend is jam-packed… I know you’re going to do great!! Have fun with your sister, too… racing with loved ones is the best.
