1- Last bathing suit update! (aka: Another one-piece bathing suit, another fail.)
I think I give up. For one, wearing a 2-piece with a rashguard seems modest enough for me (and more comfortable and versatile in many ways). And also: I tried on several of my older two pieces and you know what?
I feel fine posting these because I’m feeling pretty confident currently. Strength/interval training has helped me recover from pregnancy #3 in a way that I feel pretty good about. I give Beachbody / Autumn Calabrese most of the credit for their workouts (not any of their nutrition advice or supplements, I do not use those). I have more muscle tone that I ever had while running high mileage back in the day, and I like it! I am in a good place with nutrition (eating everything I want, just with attention to quantity). And I still eat carbs, chocolate, and wine in moderation even though I know strict elimination / avoidance is all the rage these days.
It’s nice not to be distracted by feeling self-conscious. Maybe that’s a sad reality, but it is one.
So, here you go.
2- YOU GUYS, I GET TO MEET OMDG! Longtime readers of this blog (or of her blog) will know that this is quite exciting 🙂 I will get to see her this weekend. She is somewhat anonymous so I don’t think there will be a pic . . . but I am excited.
3- Spring break has sprung. (Hence the prior scramble for bathing suits). We are off on a Disney cruise next week and I am excited. It is my first ever cruise and I am STILL somewhat nervous about feeling seasick or even getting vertigo again (I am hoping this fear is unfounded!).
As I’ve mentioned, we are going with friends so I think that will add a major element of fun to what should already be a great trip. Cruising tips are welcome!
4- We had a babysitting cancellation for this Saturday. This is very rare for us — our babysitter had a legit family emergency so of course I’m not mad about it! But I’m debating whether to scramble for another one (we were supposed to meet up with another couple that Josh works with, so I feel somewhat obligated to at least try). I NEED to get on that google docs idea mentioned in the childcare tips request post. We are still seeking your childcare tips for an upcoming episode, so if you have anything to add to these (some great ones here!) let me know!
5- I am considering a No Instagram on Weekdays rule for myself (other than to jump on and post our BoBW episode note). It is really sucking the life out of me and my GOD they have figured out how to make it incredibly addicting.
I remember when I used to have the same issue with Facebook (particularly the Groups) and was so happy when I quit. But I really do get some happiness from Instagram too, so I don’t want to leave altogether. I enjoy following people (though I need to prune my list . . .), I enjoy documenting weekends and there is a ‘collection’ aspect to it that I like. I put in Screen Time limits on my iPhone and lately . . . I have just ignored them. HELP.
Okay, off to work! Today feels incredibly luxurious as I slept in until 6:30 and can leave for work at 8am and be on time (no school and therefore no early drop off!).

I definitely like the older Athleta suit the best of the bunch. Very flattering – and the green color is nice!
Try sea bands. They work really well for me, and I am very motion-sickness prone.
Also, you look amazing but post 3 kids? Awesome.
You look great in all but I agree that the athleta 2 piece is the clear winner.
You need to rock the two pieces. You got it, girl.
You look great in everything. I have only struggled with weight since I tried dieting (luckily I only did this once or twice and I am hoping the damage is reversible over time). Since experimenting with dieting and only getting bigger, I am now a firm believer that dieting makes people fatter. Glad to see that someone else is in the moderation camp and has such a healthy attitude toward diet and exercise.
Looking good, Sarah! In all three, actually. You are ripped. I agree the best is the green one. I can NOT pull off the boy short, but it looks fabulous on you.
I really like the color of the Athleta suit, though all look so good on you!! (ideal: athleta top, Summersalt bottom style).
I may have to join the no social media on weekdays thing. I have always been too afraid to go on a cruise because I get motion sick ridiculously easily these days (rides, boats, swinging at the playground, laying in a hammock (?!?)
You look amazing!!! Seriously, PP goals with such a great attitude towards diet. Would love to know what “moderation” looks like for you with food – maybe as a featured post you could keep a week log and share to give insights on meal planning and eating? (I’m 16 months PP and 2 months post-nursing with my 1st and juuuuust now feeling sort of normal and in a good workout routine. You are so inspiring!!!!)
So, re social media. I was going through what I know think was some form of PPA, and haven’t logged on to FB in almost a year, took the app off of the phone. I was getting into huge time sucks with IG (which I love), so I’ve taken the app off my phone but still log on a few times/week via the site on my phone or laptop. I find I spend MUCH less time. Maybe something you can do, and then ritualized “installing” the app for the weekend when you switch over your bags at the end of the week! (Loved this tip from the pod, and have been using it!)
I’m obsessed with Althleta swimsuits. Perfect when at the pool with kids are when we are at the lake and kayaking. I’m loving their regular clothes too. You’re looking great.
You look so fit and strong and healthy! Definitely incentive for me to try and increase my weight/strength based stuff.
I have such a love-hate with insta. On one hand I find it motivating and inspiring and I love seeing what people all around the world are doing….and on the other I spend hours on the couch, exhausted after work, watching people who don’t even know I exist, feeling like I’m not good enough and buying into the superficiality that is often purported. It’s so tough in my 30s striking a balance, I feel for someone in their teens trying to navigate it all!
You look fantastic! I agree that my favorite is the athleta top with the summersault bottom but I like both of the two pieces.
The first bathing suit is the best for me, very flattering. Too bad you send it back… (The green one is more dated for my taste.)
Yayyy, glad I can now comment without having to verify my email address! Agree with everyone that the green suit is the best.
Love the green suit!
I have the love/hate relationship with IG as well, ha-ha. I can practice moderation on most all social media sites, but not IG, it SUCKS me in. I have found that creating the boundary where I only do IG on my laptop greatly decreases the mindless scrolling/time suck. I catch up and then I’m done. The end. And since my laptop isn’t in my pocket all day long it really helps in this area. 🙂 Just an idea!
All three swimsuits look good on you but I really like the colour of the green on you.
Ah, Instagram – I love it completely but it is the sole reason I use up all my screen time in a day… and keep “ignore for 15 minutes” (it’s like the snooze button)
You look awesome! Something about muscle just makes it easier to feel good in a bathing suit! I like the green one. I’ve never been able to wear boy shorts (maybe they look fine, but I don’t feel good about them) despite being drawn to the style. I’m a two piece person (with a rash guard during tbt really sunny times) and fell in love with a suit I found on swim outlet. The brand is carve designs and some surfers recommended it because it stays put. That’s one of my biggest concerns. It runs a little big (I wear an XS in the top, which boob wise makes sense, but shoulder/back muscle wise doesn’t).
Have fun on your cruise! I get seasick really, really easily but had no problems on the one cruise I went on except: 1) when I ran on the track they had at the gym, 2) when I went on a snorkel excursion that involved riding on a smaller boat, 3) sitting in the restaurant if I was staring right at the ocean. I really enjoyed it and will definitely go again, will be curious to hear how kids do on a cruise!
Also I delete Instagram & Facebook from my phone every Monday morning and add back on the weekends. Kinda works!
You look fantastic in all of them, I really like the athlete two piece. I think two piece plus rash guard is really the way to go with kids. I have had my top pulled down by grabby toddlers more times than I care to admit, even in a 1 piece.
