So excited to feature Imani Michelle on today’s podcast! I’ve been admiring her work for some time now (astute readers may remember Imani from her pens post linked in August!).
She describes herself as a millennial lawyer, and her planning style is unique, minimal, neutral, and beautiful.
She plans largely with inserts, and since this is a major gap in my planner knowledge vault, I wanted to her her on to talk about some of her favorite tools and why planning with inserts might be for you.
Just a tiny taste of Imani’s style from her insta:
Some of her favorite brands of inserts mentioned on the podcast:
8Lotus (called Infinite Lotus)
She also mentions Emily Ley’s Simplified line (outside of her typical neutral color palette, but within her design sensibilities!). We also discuss handwriting, pens, and self-care.
I hope you enjoy the episode, and be sure to check out Imani’s blog and follow her on Instagram for more inspiration!

I really enjoyed this episode! And as a devoted Trello user for everything thing in my life, I look forward to your episode on that!
I’ve been following Imani’s blog since you first linked to her and loved hearing her discuss planners. I use disc bound for the same reasons she uses ring bound.
Pen suggestions are always welcome!
I’ve just dipped into Trello and look forward to hear what you think.
Great episode.
Her handwriting is IMPECCABLE. I can only wish to achieve that level of handwriting awesomeness.
This is what I came here to say! WOW! I want to make it a font for my digital scrapbooking!
i KNOW RIGHT? So beautiful!
Wow, she does have impeccable handwriting. Mine is so horrible. It wasn’t great to start with and then I took thousands of pages of notes when studying for the CFA exams and I think that experience ruined it for good. I have to really really concentrate to keep it legible! So my planner is so not pretty – neither in terms of layout or my handwriting!! I mean it’s not indecipherable, but it’s definitely got a slant and i combine cursive and print so some people (like my husband) have trouble reading it!
I think I was smiling the entire time while listening to this episode…it brought me joy! 🙂
Aww thank you!!!!
Hi Sarah.
Thanks for these podcasts and BOBW – I love stationery, planning and juggling different aspects of my life.
You mentioned A6 sizing – it’s exactly half A5. The largest size in that standard system is A1 and each sequential number is half the previous size all the down to the tiny A8.
Oh my goodness! That totally makes sense. I need something in A8 in my life 🙂
