This week’s guest is none other than the famous Amanda from Amanda’s Favorites!! I have mentioned her channel before – it is basically the only thing I watch on YouTube other than (currently) my workouts. Amanda creates wonderful and comprehensive planner review videos for an amazing array of brands, from big (EC + Hobonichi!) to small (see list below!).
It was an absolute privilege to speak with Amanda on the show and I can verify that she is as kind and lovely in (virtual) person as she is on her channel.
Links to Videos we Discussed:
3 Planning Views (Daily, Weekly, Monthly)
Her son’s inspiring Bullet Journal system!
Some smaller lesser known brands Amanda mentions:
Jen Simpson Journals (use this link and code AMANDA10 for 10% off)
JMB Living Journals (here’s Amanda’s link and use code AMANDA20 for 20% off! These are so pretty, I am tempted.)
Ashley Shelly (Amanda is doing a COLLAB with her on a monthly planner! Here’s her affiliate link to shop!)
Spaces Planner (Amanda’s link to shop and use code AMANDA10 for 10% off)
I also love watching her quarterly updates and her Top 5 lists (like this Top 5 Daily one!). She will be coming out with new top 5 lists for 2022 soon, so stay tuned.
Oh, and the notebook I mentioned (and love) that I learned about from Amanda is by Becky Higgins! It really is a pleasure to use.
Next week’s episode will be a Q&A, so thank you so much for submitting your questions! Please keep them coming, and I continue to welcome guest suggestions + other thoughts about how Best Laid Plans.
Additional note: while today’s post is a show notes one, I do not want to not mention the extremely sad and heavy news weekend we just had from a global perspective (Afghanistan + Haiti). I donated last night to help with earthquake recovery; there’s a specific fund at Direct Relief. I am sure even small donations help.

Love all of this! ❤️
Loved this episode. Two of my favorite planning people, Sarah and Amanda 😀
I liked your discussion about the calming experience of physical paper planners, away from computers and phones, just sitting with a pen and paper. And that’s why paper planners will always live on, no matter how many digital solutions pop up.
What a fun listen. I headed over to her channel and ended up ordering a Spaces planner. It’s a 2021, but was half price so I figure I’ll at least get a sense of how committed I’ll be. I like that it’s more “list-centric” rather than schedule-centric, b/c that is more of what I need. I tend to lose interest in ones that are hyper focused on a calendar or time blocks.
Yay! This episode was so inspiring.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a weekly planner that has a strong pocket (that could contain a thin journal)?
I adore my Erin Condren Life Planner but my dream would be if it had a pocket to house my on-going lists. Thanks!
Answering my own question (after watching Amanda’s Favorites!).
Just ordered the Whitney English weekly planner with an amazing pocket! Plus she sells cute little notebooks to store inside it.
I also decided to compare it to the Erin Condren COIL Life planner which has a pocket as well (the soft bound does not).
Will report back !
