BLP Ep #61: Full Focus Mini-Review + More

September 27, 2021

Brief Notes:

Question: How do you plan / track your work tasks? My answer = rather boringly. Some lists in apple notes, an email file that I go through weekly, and other tasks/work-related goals embedded in my regular to do lists (generally in their own section).

Mini-Review: Full Focus! (affiliate link and code SARAHFALL10 gets you 10% off — one of the very few brands I am actually an official affiliate for). I received a request to review this and thought for sure I must have already done so, but apparently not on the podcast!

Olive leather spiral – I am planning to use this starting next week to finish out 2021!
Old daily page (Q2 2021)
this was from spring 2021. I did not meet all of these!

So many useful spreads in the FFP – I think it’s a great goal-focused system.

Episode Sponsor:

Back tomorrow. It was a meh weekend and I’m feeling overwhelmed (G has a runny nose and cannot go to school which is (*@#(@#) because OF COURSE one morning I have no childcare and my talk to give. Anyway.

I am so curious about full-focus so i will be listening! I love when you post pictures too.

So sorry to hear about G’s runny nose! My daughter had one last week and it has been removed from our schools’ health check so we can send them to school if there are no other symptoms but it felt weird!! Though, these times are still so stressful. We got a notification late on Thursday last week that there was a case in our kindergartener’s class so we kept him home and were getting all ready to set up virtual school for two weeks and at the end of the day on Friday the principal called to tell us that it was an error and that there was not a positive case. So, we went back today – but it’s seriously a roller-coaster.

The uncertainty is so stressful. We had stomach flu make its way through the nursery here, and got a call 15 minutes before pick up that our kiddo had been sick. But now they aren’t quarantining nurseries for a single positive case, only if it meets some mysterious threshold or if there are staff shortages due to positive tests. Which…I dunno, it seems a bit nuts. But I guess with no prospect of under-5 vaccines here, they can’t keep closing?

Argh – the runny nose thing. So complicated to navigate and there are definitely conflicting messages out there (even within a single school the admin vs. individual teachers can provide different feedback).
Hope it all gets sorted quickly, she’s feeling better soon and you managed so sort out the childcare situation.

Darn, that sucks about the runny nose on such a challenging day for you! I’d just let her watch as much tv as you need her to so you can get through your day. That’s what we did when our son was home during the easy period of covid. It was the only way I could get anything done and doesn’t seem to have impacted his brain! 😉 We are able to send our kid to daycare with a runny nose. It’s not considered a primary symptom here? It shouldn’t be so subjective. If that was a rule, both kids would have been out for the last 8+ school days. The baby had a start of a URV at his 9m appt earlier this month and I asked if we should get him tested and she said it was very evident that it was NOT covid. So that was very reassuring for me!

So sorry about a kid at home & a talk! Been there done that. It is the worst! Thank you though for the mini review of the Full Focus planner. I have been thinking about it (thanks to you). This was the motivation I needed. Just ordered the French blue leather flat lay version with your link. Can’t wait!

I just recently finished a French blue leather Full Focus. One of the most elegant planners I’ve ever used. Opening it almost every day made me smile. Enjoy!

This was the episode where you mentioned the cancer patient planner and talked about maybe doing a type 1 diabetes one? At least one already exists here: https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Diabetes-Organizer-Stressful-Manageable/dp/1938170261

I’m a longtime type 1, though, and even though I love paper planners for my daily life, having diabetes stuff saved electronically (in an insulin pump/CGM/meter) is way better than keeping paper logs. Plus, it’s easier to download results from electronic devices at the endo’s office than to show the endo your paper log.

Haha I definitely agree that a pump and CGM download beats a journal anytime! But more for new diagnoses to write down patterns and observations and maybe even some affirmations is what I was thinking ! Adjunct to the digital not a sub 🙂

Did I miss the link for the cancer patient planner? I would love to send it to someone. Thanks!

Might look into full focus book-bound option! Did not know that was a thing!

I’m curious…are there any daily planners with a similar layout that are DATED? The daily book-bound is hard to come across and the coils are a deal breaker for me.

I want them all! And it wasn’t even my question! What are you doing to me? 🙂
