Despite the heat wave, it’s been a lovely weekend! A’s party went really well — we held it at Color Me Mine and it was by far the easiest kid’s party I’ve hosted in a while (THANK GOODNESS). She turned 10 last month, but we moved the party to May when no one was able to make the initial spring-break-adjacent date.
We had ~12 kids there, which was perfect. G and C had friends there (close family friends) AND having grandparents/aunt/cousin there added to the fun. Teen cousin was particularly helpful with G, though she did better with the painting activity than I thought!
Today thus far, I ran (yay!), we went to the pool, AND Josh’s parents brought over lunch from one of my favorite places (Grand Cafe in Hollywood for anyone curious!). Josh is at IKEA because why not . . . and we are going to build some shelves and organize the office area until we run out of energy which unfortunately will probably be soon. Ha.
Off to call MY mother (sent flowers but haven’t checked in yet!), plan the week, cook dinner (lemon coriander salmon + rice with zucchini + squash), and hopefully get the kids to bed on time. This is going to be a bit of a challenging week work-wise so I want to be fully ready.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers reading this!

Love hearing that two successful physicians are still building IKEA furniture 🙂 This is why I read your blog.
Happy belated Mama’s Day! I checked out that menu (cuz I’m in the Northeast US and could possibly order, lol) and it looks delicious!
Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for being a wonderful mom mentor to me!!
Yay for getting some shelves! I know you’ve been wanting some so you can get fully settled in/unpacked. And I’m glad Josh could take on that errand! The birthday party looked so fun! Getting attention from a big cousin as a little one is very exciting! I remember that feeling! A looks so grown up, though!!!
Happy Mother’s Day!
We went to IKEA last week; I joke that our house wouldn’t be furnished without IKEA and thrift stores. We have a lot of great IKEA finds in our home. The building can be a bit annoying (you can hire that part out, of course; I know people that had a whole apartment set up this way)…but a lot of the pieces are great quality.
What a fun party. We did this years ago and it was such a hit; and then I went to an adult Christmas party this year at a pottery painting studio and it was surprisingly fun and relaxing with just adults around the table.
