BLP Ep 112: Nolki, Cultivate, Hobonichi + Planner Profile with Kate Hanley

September 19, 2022

Late-breaking ep

Today’s episode will be coming at you soon, but doesn’t appear to be published yet! Hopefully soon (maybe even by the time you are reading this).

Here are some show notes anyway!

Some Brand News:

1- NOLKI — a new-to-me brand of notebooks & planning-adjacent products! Colorful + different. I love this little weekly planner (thinking of using mine for meal planning!) and the washi shown below.

days-on-a-roll and a glimpse of NOLKI design

2- Cultivate What Matters – 2023 PowerSheets covers are out! Cover lineup is shown below. I am not decided on whether I will order PS this year, but if I do it will be leatherette (to match my Hobonichi stack . . . ) or bluebird!

Bluebird shown above. They do saturated colors so well!

3- Hobonichi – well, I’ve already revealed my A5 cover but here it is again. It is so weird to be able to read the quotes in English! I realized that I had forgotten any writing was there (the Japanese just sort of blended into the background before).

glitter leather shown again just for fun

New Segment: Planner Profile

As in, profile of a Person Who Plans! This time it’s Kate Hanley – yep, we did a little podcast swap! It was a joy to have her on to discuss her planning habits (quite different from mine!).

Find her podcast here (today’s ep “Manage Your Energy, Not Your Time” looks intriguing!)

Happy Monday . . .

Hopefully the ep will be up later today (or tomorrow, worst case). Luckily there are no podcast emergencies . . .

PS: this weekend was kind of meh, but hey — it’s over! Onward + upward.

I’m currently at memorial regional staying with my mom in ICU. I came downstairs after waking up for a new visitor pass and get Starbucks. I noticed a woman walking in and I could have sworn it was you. From the body frame and back of red hair. Even if it wasn’t you, it definitely cheered me up. I was like omg, My mind was brown and happy to think that’s Sara hart unger!!!! My fav blogger!

What was the name of the planner that Kate uses? I was driving while listening so I didn’t write it down, although I do (think I) remember it starts with an A….?

Hi AC, the planner I use is called Anecdote. It’s very minimalist and pretty and I love it! I got it on Amazon. I should point out that it is only for 6 months, something I didn’t realize until I was 5-1/2 months in, lol. Would love to know what you think!

Is anyone else getting a “dangerous website” message when trying to look at the Nolki planner website? I tried to go to it from Google and got the same message. Maybe we crashed the website!! I loved your episode with Kate Hanley and am looking forward to hearing her on your podcast. Thanks so much for all of the great planner info you give us!!

oh no! I don’t get it – I’m on a mac using safari and when I go https://nolki.com it just is a regular site!

Thank you – it works just fine using your link. I think I have over-zealous virus software installed!

Kate Hanley is not the only one who is team pencil! I also use BIC Number 2 Mechanical Pencils, Medium Point (0.7mm), and they come in fun barrel colors.

I exclusively use mechanical pencils in my paper planner and my work notebook (for notes), though I do have certain uses for certain pens and Sharpies with other things.

How do you feel about the English now? I’m not convinced, I kinda miss the Japanese!

I feel like they are … basically the same so far!
