STORM DAY (again)

November 9, 2022

Hello from the 3rd storm day we’ve had this fall.

(Yep, it’s our snow day equivalent except less fun because generally you don’t go out and play in a tropical storm — except we might, if there’s no lightning because right now the weather looks fine.)

and now we wait

Plans for the day:

Now until 11:15 —

Take a walk / encourage kids to play outside while weather ok

C&A to work on homework – C has a project due next Friday and A’s homework is always due on Thursdays for the week, so they both have stuff to finish up

Kids can do whatever but no screens

11:15 – 11:45 – lunch

11:45 – 1:00 – iPad time

1:00 – 2:00 – screen break – read / etc

2:00 – 4:00 – iPad time while I do a BOBW interview (I think it will be a good one!) and then work out (treadmill + strength)

4:00 – 6:00 – kids clean up, finish any homework – can watch a movie once all of the above are done

6:00 – dinner + clean up, baths

7:30 – bedtime routine starts

(I do not ask our nanny to drive down if school is closed unless it’s obvious the storm is over. So yes, on my own here. Josh is doing cases. Thankfully my clinic days for this week are already over and I was supposed to be off Friday!)

I’m guessing school will be closed tomorrow too which #($*#. Let’s just hope this tropical storm/hurricane fizzles out. AND that our power (and everyone else’s power!) stays on. This is the first November storm to hit FL since 1985.

I was thinking of you down in FL this morning and sending good vibes. I wonder if you ever think of moving given the frequency of storms and the gerrymandered election results–neither of which seem likely to improve.

That does make it a tough choice. I have a trans kid, so I may have been projecting/imagining a bit over there… 🙂

My kids are off school tomorrow and Friday. I had actually taken tomorrow off already to go on a St. Augustine field trip with my oldest. When that was canceled due to weather, I decided to keep the day off and get a massage. But now everything is closed, so I’m going to be trapped in the house with all the kids instead of getting my massage. Oh well! It ended up being a good day to have off if not for the original reason I’d hoped for.

St Pete just closed school for Thursday and we are way over here. Thinking of you SHU.

Side note- I brought the large full focus to a preschool meeting and another mom walked across the room to see it. We have now bonded over paper planners, but I might have pegged her for a super planner enthusiast. I was all so do you follow Best Laid Plans… do you read the Shubox… what brand is your planner… 50 million questions, too much? Haha. Hope not.
