Disney Dispatch #1: Magic Kingdom

March 31, 2026

SUNDAY

We finished packing and left at ~10 AM to pick my sister and Miriam (6 year old niece!) up at the Palm Beach airport!! Their flight was on time (yay) and everything went smoothly. After stops at Panera and Walmart (we bought ponchos out of paranoia, so of course the weather has been perfect) we arrived right around check-in!

We’re staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time — all in one big 2 BR room (I used David’s Vacation Club to save a bit!). Disney hotels are always way pricier than they should be, but otherwise I have no complaints. We went straight to the pool (with water slide) until it was time for dinner at one of the hotel restaurants.

I feel the need to mention A was there too but has not yet approved any pix for publication
me in what A called a “Millennial selfie”. (that was not a compliment, lol)

MONDAY started early because we had 8:50 reservations for a character breakfast which forced us to start our journey to the park at 7:30. I took WAYYYY TOO few pictures though in my defense it’s dark on a lot of those rides! But here are a few plus a list of our activities for posterity!

on the bus pointing things out
on the way!
Winnie the Pooh @ Crystal Palace
meeting Tiana – M was a little nervous about the characters at first but she warmed up
from our Snow White dinner – posing grumpily . . .

MK Experiences:

Barnstormer

Breakfast at Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh

Little Mermaid

Pirates of the Caribbean

Mickey Band Performance

Carousel

Meeting Princess Tiana

{Snack break #1: Mickey ice cream bars}

Peoplemover

Buzz Lightyear (Preview Ride)

Small World

{Snack break #2: Popcorn time}

Sarah / Rebecca / M: Jungle cruise and Country Bear Jamboree

Josh / A / C / G: Tron Lightcycle and Tiana’s (note: I’m a tiny bit sad I didn’t go on Tron now, I think I would have survived, lol. But M was too small and my sister would have hated it so splitting up made sense!)

Haunted Mansion

Seven Dwarves Mine Train

Shopping on Main Street

. . . by this time it was ~6ish so we headed back to the hotel for another character dinner at Snow White @ Artist’s Point.

Steps taken: almost 20K

Aaaaaand on to EPCOT! We were at MK for about 10 hours which for us is A LOT. Weather was great, crowds were . . . normal? They didn’t seem particularly excessive but maybe we always go around spring break time.

Millennial selfie LOL. I, for one, LOVE the selfie. Millennials unite!!! Cute suit too by the way!!!

Also I am giggling over Winnie the Poo…he spells it “Pooh”! lol

Glad you’re having a blast. This makes me think maybe I could brave WDW. We’ve only ever been to Disneyland and so heading to Orlando feels overwhelming…!

Ha!!! I think I fixed it! That was quite a spelling error 😆

😘 I figured you’d want to know!! (PS: It’s also in your list of things you did…)

Can’t wait to hear about the rest of your trip!!

Wait what’s a “millenial” selfie? Is it that gen alpha no longer takes selfies? Or is it a *way* of doing the selfie? Inquiring minds want to know…

Something about how I hold it and smile, apparently. Since I’m on the cusp of Gen X I basically took it as a compliment 😆

Sounds like a successful day! Glad the crowds weren’t overwhelming- maybe spring break is the time to go. Oh, I noticed Country Bear Jamboree on your list- we have a family joke about that. We went to MK one time during the summer (NO DO NOT DO THAT) and it was so, so hot, that my husband made is go to Country Bear Jamboree because it was air conditioned. We hated it, and now whenever it comes up the conversation goes something like “We’ll never get those minutes back!!!” “Well, I was ROASTING…” Ha, good times.

We went to Epcot and Animal Kingdom two weeks ago and the crowds weren’t terrible then either, which is nice from the standpoint of being a guest but maybe not so ideal for Disney. I got the impression that there were close to 0 international visitors… at least the days we were there.

Hmm. I’d say it was pretty full but not scary packed. You’re right about fewer international groups! Some from UK but not many overall.

Disney is always fun! Was the food at the dinner Snow White still amazing? I remember it was my favorite meal at Disney a few years ago!!!

YES! We were like “wow this is a cut above the typical Disney”. Honestly Crystal Palace breakfast wasn’t bad either (I had previously been for lunch and was less than impressed) but Akershus food-wise was really mediocre!! (BUT, lots of princesses . . .)

ha!! I’m on tray #30/43 . . . getting there! I haven’t minded it at all really. I actually feel like I’m the total weirdo who will MISS MY ALIGNERS . . .
