In today’s episode, I share some ideas and inspiration for your summer — some of it a little bit outside of the typical (summer cleaning, anyone?).
Topics discussed:
- Sharing the load of summer planning and fun-making
- Summer checklists . . . not just for kids
- Summer fun ideas for less than ideal weather
- Summer habit / routine changes
- Summer cleaning (why is this not a thing?)
- One Big Project
- Think about when you will think about the next season
I also answer a listener question on planners that start in the summer — if you’re willing to wait until July, there are a ton of options!

This was a fun episode! On the topic of planners that start in the summer, we picked up a wall Essential Calendar and the whole family is loving the three-month view. The kids enjoy filling in the calendar and decorating it with colors and stickers, plus they can see and get excited about upcoming plans. My husband and I liked being able to lay out the whole summer to see where we might be off balance, need to build in rest, or have the opportunity to add in something fun. This isn’t a planner that starts in the summer, but a product that has been fun and helpful for our family!
As we say in my industry, I have basically no bid for a summer cleaning project. Ha! That is what my endless winter is for. But it probably makes a difference what kind of climate you live in. Summer is kind your winter with volatile weather and really hot/humid temps. I know my sister felt the same way when she lived in AZ.
Now that my oldest can read and write I am planning to make our first summer bucket list ever! I’m excited to sit down with him and come up with some ideas. And then I plan to take a photo of his list to include in our family photo album because little kid writing is just so cute and endearing.
That’s a great idea re: taking a picture. I’m gonna do that!
