We leave tomorrow! I’m feeling sort of excited but honestly . . . a little bit stressed. I still feel like I chose poorly in the timing of this trip, but at this point ruminating on that is not helping.
And then there’s this:
The Olivia concert isn’t until Tuesday night so . . . I guess if we are delayed a day it woudn’t be THAT tragic (did I insure those tickets? Not sure). Hoping maybe we can . . . go around it? The winds are predicted to hit our area just as our plane would be taking off so that’s not great. But also maybe it will fizzle?
Uncertainty: my favorite thing!
Severe weather: my second favorite thing!
JK, but here we are so I will deal.
I am honestly feeling quite exhausted. Too exhausted for a traditional 5 on a Friday, I’m afraid. I AM excited for lots of time to talk and hang out. When I think about it, we really haven’t planned much for this trip and honestly that is okay with me. We have a bunch of ideas of places to explore (and to eat – thank you, local blog readers!), but other than the concert nothing really is time sensitive. This is different from, say, our Alaska trip or even our ski trip when we there were a lot of “we need to be ready by xyz time” moments.
(I guess this is more like how we do Amelia Island. And I am always here for that style of relaxed trip!! AND it is what I have the energy for right now).
One last long run in the HEAT and then a little break. Ready for it! I hope it happens!

Sarah – I feel for you. Dreading what is supposed to be fun is the worst! Just remember the back to school process will likely be chaotic whether you go on vacation or not, so might as well go into it relaxed! Hope you can have some fun!
Have the best time! It’s kind of nice to visit a place where you don’t have to plan it all out and can just relax and take each day as it comes. You’ve got the big block of the concert but the rest can be figured out each day and you will still have a wonderful time, even if you don’t have a really set itinerary! When I traveled alone before having marriage/kids, I planned SO MUCH but I felt like I had to. Now I tend to plan less but we have had low key trips to places where most of the entertainment is a different climate (beaches in April in FL v snowy cold Mn). It’s kind of similar for you – you can enjoy the cooler, drier temps and Mountain Views!!
I feel this way before every vacation. I do hope it goes smoothly and that you get some great family time! Do as little work as possible.
Have a great vacation!!!
Oh wow- I hope you got out okay. We were driving through northern Florida on Saturday, and we’re feeling lucky we left when we did! Have a great time!!!
Super super lucky our plane actually left on time Saturday night and we went around the storm!
