Here we go! Usual disclaimer that it feels a little bit vulnerable to share actual time data . . . but here we are.
5:00 up (not sure when I went to bed the night before, maybe 9:30?); plan the day including doing my 5-year journal. Here’s today – not the most exciting entires, I have to say!

5:20 read (started Bruce Feiler’s Life is in the Transitions as recommended by commenter Alyce!) + headspace
6:00 NYT puzzles, 45-min yoga/pilates combo (Anna Greenberg) that exposed my severe lack of hamstring flexibility but was still good

7:00 G is up! Help her make a smoothie, eat my own breakfast, rouse C (A was already up)

Decent protein content here!
7:30 do G’s hair before she heads out the door with Josh (he’s driving all 3!); shower, 5 min makeup, leave house with wet hair (it tends to dry on the commute)

8:00 Drive. Alone, since Josh took all 3. On way: Up First, and then an excellent NPR music ep — I really liked all of this music! After driving: text chat with brother-in-law about the day’s Connections puzzle.

8:30 Arrive at work. Patients / notes / results calls; quick discussions with various office staff.
12:00 DONE! Lunch while reading blogs (chicken caesar salad + wheat thins @ desk),
12:30 Zoom parent teacher conference for a kid, mildly stressful
1:00 Patient scheduled but not here yet – go for walk around office + quickly write blog post
1:45 Patients, notes, calls, etc
5:00 Done (or done enough, inbox not zero but close and I know I’m coming back the next day). Drive to pick up G from reading tutor; talk to my sister on phone on way.
5:45 Home with G! Dinner (pasta / spinach / meat / mozzarella -our nanny had prepped this on Monday, she cooks multiple meals at a time PrepDIsh style even when not using PrepDish), clean up, prep coffee for next day.
Note: ALL 3 kids home for dinner (not that common on weeknights) because A had decided to skip gymnastics and C skipped soccer (they often skip skills training on tournament weeks)
6:30 Random admin w while G does piano: order bday gift for G’s friend, order EC planner (for review . . .)
7:00 Josh home somewhere in there! Watch Chopped Jr with kids (they are into this). Mystery ingredients include ketchup soda and hot dog cotton candy, GROSS.
8:00 Josh puts G to bed; I do skincare, minor home straightening, and plan the upcoming weekend.
8:15 Text Kae about weekend plan and other stuff; impulse-buy these jeans in cream for summer (I have them in a regular denim wash and wear them all the time — and I had been wanting them in white for a while. So maybe not really an impulse buy, but it was random to do it last night!)

8:45 Read in bed (20 pages of Back After This, almost done now)
9:10 Fall asleep
Oh, and here’s my Invisalign tracker! ONLY 571 days to go. . .

More tomorrow!
(AND THANK YOU for the NH recs!! I feel like I will have the best trip because of you all!!! I will obviously post about it when we go so hopefully can pay it forward a bit!)

Yay DITL!!! Also yay that it was a better day than 2023. I really do want to start a 5 year journal, even though I feel that most of my entries right now would be complaining about work.
What’s amazing to me is how different life is with younger kids. I think I remember it like it was yesterday, but I don’t. It’s just a total game changer when they start driving themselves.
I’m intrigued by the cottage cheese fruit granola combo. I bet it’s good!
The impulse buy looks so nice!
Oh yeah I love it! I’m not a big fan of yogurt lately esp Greek (which has the most protein) but I really like cottage cheese. I usually get the 2% fat variety.
As someone who admires the way you conduct your life, I enjoy these types of posts (including the ones when you share a planner page). Not to be nosy, but I like to emulate areas that I see can benefit me and fit in my own routines.
2025 – no strep seems like a win! Also those jeans are going to look great on you.
The most obvious characteristic of this Thursday – as far as I can tell – is that there is almost no sign of wasted time, Dr. Sarah Hart-Unger. I also realized that you’ve written about a dozen DITL blog posts already, with one of them dating as far back as 2014. I consider that to be quite conscientious of you.
And yes, as effective as Invisalign is, I can see how much patience is required to wait for the day when you no longer need it.
I hope you like the book! I’m rereading it now myself as I process my quitting my federal job and the upcoming transition to a new job. I thought I was finally past the lifequake of becoming a parent/Simone’s diagnoses/covid/my health issues/premature menopause/ renovating my home only to now find myself in the midst of yet another major transition. Almost everything in my life is different than it had been 6 years ago which is wild to think about. Aside from getting divorced/widowed there’s nothing left to change. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that nothing happens there.
Oh wow, how did I get so far behind? I love DITL posts! Why is it SO FUN to see how other people spend their days? Probably because it’s so different from mine (although- certain similarities as well.) Off to read the next day!
