Back to School has ARRIVED

August 18, 2026

I am very happy to report that G went back to school today!!

The kids were home with not a lot to do for waaaaaay too long this summer. As noted, this was not by design. I could have put them in camp (and did almost do that) but this would have been very hard on me during the weeks when Josh wasn’t driving and our nanny was away, so it’s been weeks since the house was quiet during the day.

I am VERY excited to be able to finally focus tomorrow on my creative work day (esp bc I have a TONNNN to do).

BACK TO SCHOOL:

I actually don’t even know how this shot happened but I kind of like it!

Off to 3rd grade!!!!

WEEKEND OUTING: We met Josh’s dad (Poppy) at Perez Art Museum in Miami — it was great!

steps in crutches! But we made it.
sculpture garden of painted dogs + cats – this was awesome
as was the interactive table tennis piece inside (we did pretty well!)

Otherwise the weekend was pretty routine, I would say! We definitely had a longer “prep for the first REAL week” meeting at dinnertime and I finally updated our Essential Calendar to go through the end of 2026.

I am feeling some angst around fitting in my work and some other things, but one bloggable thing I am having (fun) angst about is my 2027 planner stack. I’ve used a Hobonchi Cousin for so many years running (at least for my initial planner of any given calendar year) but I feel like I am ready to try new things! New analog things (let’s not get crazy). I am enjoying the exercise of thinking through how I might do things differently, probably because it is far more pleasant than the other things on my mind.

HAPPY BACK TO SCHOOOOOOOL for anyone here with me!

PS: Timely, our BOBW BTS extravaganza is out today too!

ha yes it’s the PBK x Roller Rabbit collab (from last year, she didn’t need a new backpack!)

We go back 8/31 and I heard that the teachers might strike for a couple of weeks when school starts – which is actually illegal in MI, but they’ve been without a contract for almost a year and are quite disgruntled. Boo. Yay for Josh being mobile and on crutches! Hopeful he will be able to return to running and skiing eventually. Fingers crossed!
