Boston / Truro Dispatch #1

I have not asked my friends for approval of various pix yet soooo this is a very incomplete record, since this trip has been all about the friend/connection time.

(Well, also total relaxation and a ‘pause’ from life. I really needed this getaway!)

THURSDAY

A few of us (me + Vickie + Azusa) started with some Boston adventures, mostly centered in Brookline around stationery shopping! YOU GUYS I GOT TO SEE HOBONICHIS IN REAL LIFE at Boston General Store. It was thrilling! I bought some accessories + and an A6 MD Notebook to use for drawing. We also went to the Sanrio sensory explosion that is Teehee (and I got some little gifts for the kids).

Then we headed out to beat commuter traffic and made it to the Cape by dinnertime! We picked up THE BEST PIZZA at Spinello and had a fun night of chatting and catching up once the later crew arrived.

(We are staying in 2 houses – my friend Emily’s gorgeous Truro home, plus a rental within walking distance. This is part of why we felt secure coming in the storm – we are on high ground, not close to the coast, and these are sturdy/large structures. Today is rainy and tonight will probably feature the heaviest winds, but so far so good.)

FRIDAY

A few of us started the day with a beach walk (figured we should do this before the weather hit!) and then we all headed to the spa!

weather definitely a little ominous, but not terrifying for a walk. NOT swimming appropriate.
this place was charming and we spent ~3 hours there (2 round of massages) — most of us got massages and they had a dry sauna, hot tub and steam room.
then we headed out for lunch at The Canteen (walking distance AND they had lobster rolls so they fulfilled our group’s requirement!)

The weather was screaming CLAM CHOWDER to me . . .

yum. But also don’t sleep on the Yuca fries! My friends reported the lobster rolls were delicious too – they have both warm and cold varieties.

We headed back to our houses to change/shower/etc and then headed over to Emily’s for an oyster tasting happy hour (!!!). She treated us all to a local oyster farmer’s shucking experience (he shucked, we ate and sipped champagne). It was glorious and the oysters had been caught that day.

I don’t the oyster expert would mind this publicity! (will get his contact if anyone local is interested!)

Finally we headed out to dinner at Sal’s (Provincetown; about a 15-20 minute drive) and I slept 9 hours for the second night in a row in my cozy bedroom.

It might get a bit stormy today but we have plans to sit here and be cozy:

The only piece of luck around this weather is that my flight home is Monday afternoon (not Sunday) which should (HOPEFULLY) be after all of this storminess is over.

Will report back (probably Monday)! And maybe I will get some group shots approved 🙂
