I had a craaaaappy day yesterday! And — very luckily so — I really haven’t had one of those in a while.
The headliner was that we received an ominous email from our accountant followed by a phone call where we were told we owed [obscene amount] in estimated taxes because the amounts I paid in prior quarters (numbers provided by these same people, yes) did not match with the final numbers. And not in a good way.
That was rough.
My dad was also having some terrible struggles, and I spent a lot of time worrying about that.
AND my clinic day was super busy and a bit challenging in some parts, and I always mentally struggle with the ‘last’ day of anything before a break (always have!).
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?
I powered through, emptied my EPIC inbox, made a plan for the tax payments (bathroom renovation may have to wait a bit but personally this does not cut too deeply), and pouted a little bit. I also may have have done some AI-assisted financial exploration with old YNAB data. And this morning, I am already feeling pretty at peace.
(A HUUUUGE help is that my dad may have figured out what was going on and is feeling suddenly better! CANNOT celebrate too soon, but extremely promising news from PHL and haven’t gotten any of that for a long time.)
You guys, I did not scroll Reddit!! I did not even treat my discontent with DQ (though truthfully that would have bothered me less than a Reddit-fest). I got up today and made my usual plan and thus far have successfully executed, and now it’s T-1 day until my girls’ trip and I am so excited!
I feel like there have been seasons where I would have lurked in the doldrums for much longer, perhaps even waiting for the magical New Month to save me. So, progress!
I do have one concerning piece of news.
YOU GUYS. THE FALL FOLIAGE HAS NOT ARRIVED IN BOSTON/CAPE CODE AREA AND I AM GOING TO FAIL AT MY ANNUAL GOAL OF SEEING IT.
EXCEPT I just realized I will be in NC mid-November so . . . . . WHEW.
Notice that South FL is not on this map. So sad (but true).
At least it will be cool temps. Bring on the fleece + puffer! (And college besties, and stationery, and relaxation).
