Time Tracking Day #6/7: Almost Fall-Like

September 20, 2026

This is a very typical “J-call” Saturday – a ton of kid-driving with some downtime, and generally low key vibes.

AND a hint of fall!

The Log:

Highlights & Notes

  • Usually G has tennis on Saturday mornings but she woke up with a super stuffed up nose and said she wasn’t up to it, so we skipped. (No fevers or anything like that . . . and she was generally fine the rest of the day. Seems like a mild cold which I have to NOT GET before traveling next week!)
  • Fall themed high protein breakfast!
cottage cheese (I know this is a polarizing food but I love it), Ratio high-protein maple granola, apple & cinnamon. 35g protein in this bowl!
  • C’s room organization is 3/4 DONE!! I’m so thrilled about this and can’t wait to finish today (we have parts of the closet left to conquer, but have gone through all clothing, books, Pokemon/etc). He has done a fantastic job deciding what sparks joy and I am proud of him.
  • I took a walk in this weather and was thrilled bc this is our version of “fall”. (We then had flood-inducing rain later on, but hey – it was a lovely cool-ish morning).
FL fall
Definitely no colorful leaves but you can just sort of feel the season shifting. A LITTLE bit anyway.
  • A had gym 12 – 3:30; C had a guitar lesson at 12:45 – 1:30. (Josh was working in the hospital as I assumed he would be). I strategized and decided G and I would hit Dunkin (right next to guitar) and then we would all go to TJs (to buy a million pumpkin things, more on that tomorrow) post guitar and before A’s pickup. THEN the kids asked if we could also go to Barnes & Noble, and I couldn’t say no to that! G got a book, a hygge coloring book and a Lego set and C got a Pokemon 1000-piece puzzle (it’s cute and I wish I liked puzzles, but I absolutely do not). Normally they would have covered the non-book items out of their allowances, but I was feeling generous and like the cozy analog vibes of what they chose so I bought it.
scenes from the donut date — I had an apple filled one and it was awesome and definitely fall-themed
  • We dropped the pumpkin-heavy groceries at home and then I went to pick up A. And THEN I got in the car and drove A 45 minutes to a friend’s sleepover — this friend lives in Golden Beach which is a bit south of us and next to the ocean. FAR! It was a lot of driving but I got to listen to the new Beck album (LOVE IT) and Rhiannon Giddens (also really goood) from this week’s playlist. On the way back there was heavy rain (flooding was starting to happen . . .) but I survived.
  • At ~5:45 I was home and planted myself on the couch to read and also ordered Thai for delivery. Josh was home and watching football by this point. (I could have watched but I was more interested in finding out what happens in Big Little Truths).
  • Thai dinner was delicious and then we watched The Princess Bride. G/C liked it! I kept falling asleep during the last ~30 min or so — it’s a great movie but I think it does D R A G G G G in the back half.

And there you have it — a pretty typical Josh-call weekend day with some twists.
