Reading Work

Sunday Update

October 25, 2026

Okay I have to say yesterday’s minimum stim protocol went really well! Every time I felt antsy and felt my dopamine seeking neurons looking for action I repeated “minimum stim” and just chilled. And it really did feel like a much calmer day.

(It also helps that I got to sleep through the night. This always feels like a victory / slightly miraculous on call, though I would estimate it probably happens about 1/3 of the time.)

AND yesterday overall ended up being quite enjoyable and productive in some ways, which is funny because that wasn’t really the end goal. I did not end up having to go back to the hospital after my morning rounds, but I felt like it would have been fine either way, which is a nice place to be.

Because things stayed relatively quiet, I read a sizable chunk (like, 60%) of this:

Strange Houses by Uketsu. Another short book – just 200 pages with a bunch of diagrams so it goes FAST

I learned about this book on a podcast (Currently Reading I think?) and was a little nervous it would be too visual for me but nope, definitely not. It has been a fun romp and the dialogue aspect strikes me as so Japanese (or at least in line with what I’ve seen in other Japanese novels I’ve read recently).

Right now it is raining and I am trying to decide whether to go to the hospital before C’s basketball game or after . . . leaning towards after because nothing is urgent and that way I won’t have to go twice if an afternoon consult pops up.

AND Josh and I already had a little Q5 planning meeting, I just did some yoga, and I am ready for whatever else the rest of this call weekend has in store.

ONWARD!

meanwhile my assistant (aka A) is working on some designer nametags for BLP Live.
AHHH cannot believe how soon this is coming up!!!
