Q5 Goals!

November 3, 2026

** Added because — having voted early — I actually forgot today was Election Day! But if Election Day applies to you (I know not all readers are US based!), I hope you can take the time to vote today if you haven’t already!

This week’s posts will feature a lot of goals content, because we’re got a New Month / New Quintile intersection going on. Since I always use my seasonal goals to help inform my monthly goals ( = Nested Goals!), I did my seasonal planning first. For reference, my Q4 review is here.

TODAY –> Q5 Goals

TOMORROW –> October Recap

THURSDAY –> November Goals

FRIDAY –> 5 on a Friday (and also hopefully an update from BLP Live!!!! AHHH I am excited!)

Q5: Savor + Enjoy the Ride

PERSONAL:

1- Restart my cross-stitch project

2- Have fun playing holiday songs on piano (get some actual arrangements vs just doing it by ear in my hackish way)

3- Continue drawing/doodling regularly without judgment

judgment-free zone!

4- Continue intentional nutrition (goal of increasing strength); try some upper body gym sessions in lieu of home workouts

5- Follow Q5 reading plan

6- Savor process of setting up 2027 planners!

RELATIONSHIPS:

1- Aim for (and schedule!) one walk-and-talk per week with friend or family member

2- Have (and schedule!) two monthly date nights with Josh

3- Maintain Sunday family meetings

4- Celebrate bdays well: Josh & Genevieve!

5- Enjoy Hanukkah celebrations (fam party; friends party – the latter already planned, former need to figure out)

6- Savor family time over Thanksgiving

7- Make a decision (ANY DECISION) about possible May cruise w friends, or alternatively something else to do that long weekend

HOME:

1- Finish decluttering G’s room

2- Create a plan with Josh for decluttering shared spaces in 2027

3- START the kids’ bathroom reno process (initial inquiries to hopefully set in motion for 2027)

4- Refresh + declutter of bathrooms (quick; major decluttering already done)

WORK:

1- Leave lots of space for prep and teaching of BLP at Home / Live and really savor teaching these sessions! It’s work, but it’s fun work and I feel so grateful that I get to do it.

2- Solicit feedback from Pl x S 2026 and BLPA2.0 fall — both have been amazing groups and I know they will have great suggestions

3- Decide about Nested Goal mini-course with PDF?

4- Open a business checking account (and get a bonus!)

5- Move all business expenses to Chase preferred Business card (and earn bonus)

6- Continue monthly work planning + Wednesday Inbox Zero

7- Manage my Christmas-week call week well! (Including having some plans set in advance for the kids — thinking of a list of things for them to do each day)

FUN:

1- See You Can See Everything (with Josh, preferably in theaters). We might try to go when we’re in NC for the Duke reunion! Worst case: over Thanksgiving weekend (hopefully it will still be playing SOMEWHERE?)

2- Finish at least 50 books in 2026 (def on track for that!)

3- Savor the Duke reunion trip + built-in couples time

4- Savor the gym meet trip with A + built in 1:1 time

5- See Olivia Rodrigo (!!!)

6- Savor the Universal Studios trip (and don’t try to maximize)

7- Bake Hanukkah shortbread cookies (failed goal from last year; GOING TO DO IT THIS TIME)

8- HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS: watch fave movies, enjoy the music, make space for longer walks, cozy reading time, etc

LET’S DO THIS Q5!!!! I am so PUMPED for this Quintile – it feels like just what I need, right now.

I am wading into Minnie’s room and closet today– need to clean it out for carpet installation, so we might as well find things that spark joy…

I read with some amusement your separation of “personal” and “relationships” categories from “fun.” What’s the rationale for this? They all seem like fun… or at least, I wouldn’t be trying to play on the piano unless that was fun for me (for instance).

Please post cross-stitch picture. Your sketching is really cute and (knowing nothing about this) I expect will get even better with more practice.

ha! Well, it’s arbitrary but it helps me to think through each category! I do find playing piano fun 🙂 but it’s not like “go to a concert” fun I guess?

I love Q5! I have some vague goals but I should sit down and write them out. So wait- you did those drawings??? They are CUTE! I’m impressed because all I can draw are stick figures.

I’m off to vote right now!!!
