it’s official: summer is really, really over. i know this because i had to bring out my winter coat this weekend, and gloves, and a scarf, and a hat. it might seem a little late for me to be saying this, but hey, it’s north carolina. the south. we’re behind. everything takes longer down here (except for the arrival of spring, of course, thank god).
things i like about fall and winter:
making and eating pumpkin things
soup (including pumpkin soup)
my red coat
vacation days & visiting family
going to miami and pretending winter isn’t really happening
snow days (only if i absolutely don’t have to go outside)
the space heater
things i detest about fall and winter:
being cold (especially my hands, nose, and feet)
chapped lips
going outside
scraping off car window (#1 hated thing, i think)
darkness
basically, if i could stay inside the whole time with my red coat and space heater, eating pumpkin delicacies for days on end, things would be just great. i would love winter. unfortunately, there is conflict between the above lists. any sort of trip or vacation is going to involve going outside, probably before the sun comes out, and will require car scraping as well. which means getting cold hands, cold feet, and a copious post-nasal drip.
therefore: the bad outweighs the good.
i am so moving to miami someday. or if not, hawaii, southern california, or perhaps tahiti would suffice. i miss the sun already.
