my lovely sister reminded me that what i said in my last post does not apply all of the time, because there is stress that is beyond just a state of mind. i mean, it still resides in the head, but it is more or less inescapable in some situations.
a very incomplete list of some types of situational stress
– health stress, including mental health stress
– financial stress (and i’m not talking ‘i can’t afford a second guest house! what will the van burens think?’ financial stress, but ‘oh god are we going to be able to eat this week!?’ stress)
– loss stress, whether it pertains to loss or threat of loss of a job, a marriage, or a loved one
– you get my point.
i think all stress is ‘real’, whether it be about that second guest house, or an impending divorce. but some kinds are avoidable when a different mode of thought is applied. and of course, like everything else in life, there are shades of gray.
[and also, i am not an expert on any of this stuff — more just interested, and thinking out loud. so please take all of my online blatherings with a large grain of salt]
