perfect fit

November 8, 2008

the interview yesterday was awesome. i was extremely impressed with the program, and hearing more about life as an endocrine fellow just had me bursting at the seems with excitement. the interesting cases, the balance between clinical and lab work, and the brilliant-intellectual-yet-friendly-and-fun vibes of everyone i met just got me so excited. i even thought of some interesting research ideas during my interviews! i really, REALLY hope everything works out for me with the application process this year — apparently offers tend to go out by the winter holidays. i am not going to write about preferences between programs on this blog, but i will say that i know for sure that i would be absolutely thrilled to get either position. wow.

in terms of how i did, i at least think they liked me. i had great conversations with multiple interviewers and the time went by very quickly. the current fellows took me out to lunch (at cute little 411 west) and that was a lot of fun. i am going to have to try to put the experience in the back of my mind for a while as i focus back to my current challenges (NICU!) but it was really refreshing and an enticing glimpse of (hopefully) my future.

power saturday!
it’s time for another power saturday (ie, my one-day-off in this crazy NICU week)! i managed to sleep about 11 hours (yes, for real), so i am certainly not getting an early start, but i don’t have huge aspirations for the day like i did last week, so that’s ok.

the list
☑ general pickup of our messy house
☑ 14 mile run in chapel hill (hopefully won’t fall this time!)
☑ some weights or yoga
☑ laundry
☑ see rachel getting married
☑ plan runs & cooking for next week
☑ stop at grocery store after movie to pick up groceries
☑ probably some takeout for dinner vs making lasagna
☑ bed by 9 pm!
so not anne hathaway’s usual role!

workout: i came home so exhausted from my interview that i could do no more than crash onto the couch (and later revive myself to go out for sushi). it happens!

I could go for 11 hours of sleep right about now. Glad your interview went well.
