orla kiely for the masses
i had not one but two thoughtful friends (thank you vickie and azusa!) brighten my post-call day yesterday by emailing me about the upcoming orla kiely collection from target!! i am so excited for the opportunity to bring a bit more o.k. into my life — and affordably, to boot! some previews:

pretty canisters

2-tiered tray

fun dishware

check out that apron!

and this affordable leather bag!

(just kidding. this one is orla kiely not from target and has now been marked down to the low, low price of $400. le sigh.)

seriously, though, i’m excited, and will definitely plan on hitting target as soon as these items come out (no official date yet, but the word on the street is ‘early february’).

marathon training begins
yesterday i kicked off my marathon training plan for the new jersey marathon (on 5/3/09 – only 16 weeks away!). as i’ve mentioned before, i’m using the runner’s world ultimate plan: advanced with a few tweaks, mainly fitting the plan to my schedule and adding a bit of cross-training, weights, and yoga. i am crossing my fingers for my first injury-free marathon training cycle in (gulp) 3 years. here’s to flexibility, cross-training, and listening to my body! NJM, here i come.

workout: postcall i did an interval run that felt harder than it should have! i attribute this to a) being post-call (duh) and b) a very hot gym. total 6.8 miles at 0.5% incline, with:
– 4 x 1 mile @ 7:47/mi each
– 3 minutes of walking/jogging recovery time each (and i NEEDED to recover!)
– 1 mi warmup / 1 mi cooldown at 9:13/mi pace

reading: 20 minutes on transverse myelitis and neuromyelitis optica

floss report: going strong!
