summer day trip
a few days ago, one of my friends (another about-to-be 3rd-year peds resident) told me she was going to the beach with 2 other girls this weekend and asked if i wanted to come. during my busier months, i’m usually not the most spontaneous (understatement!) and my first instinct was to say no . . . but then i thought about it a bit more. what was stopping me? the laundry? come on. i will have all of tomorrow off as well, so there will be plenty of time to get life in order before next week (which definitely will be crazy, but i’ll survive).
the drive should take about 2.5 hours, give or take. it’s a bit of a hike for a day trip, but i suppose that’s part of the fun! it’s sunny and HOT — maybe even too hot — but that will just make the water more appealing.
the one downside is that josh is working today. i admit i feel a little guilty about heading out without him. but i am also working pretty hard right now and i’ve spent many days sitting at home or just doing housework while he toils in the hospital. i shouldn’t feel bad about enjoying my time off, and i could use some time spent with friends. i do wish we could get more days off together.
pictures to come tomorrow! off to shower and get ready.
workout: 4.5 miles in the AM, average 8:41/mi pace. yes, that’s 4 runs in 5 days this past week — probably more than i should be doing. i need to bring back the cross-training, but i was really loving my sunrise runs! oh well, one thing at a time, right?
how about a run on the beach?
