happy monday!

good morning sunshine

i suppose it’s easy to be in a good mood when starting the day off with a freshly baked banana nut muffin . . .

yay monday! okay, i’m half kidding. but yesterday i was thinking about how easy it is to live from weekend to weekend, wishing the days away in between. i really am enjoying my current work situation (peds endocrine!) but out of habit i still found myself wanting to be ‘free’, thinking about friday with an air of wistfulness that would make you think i was being forced to scrub toilets continuously throughout the work week.

but that’s silly! it doesn’t make any sense to wish away 71% of your life, especially when it’s already so short. so even though this week ends in vacation (the promise land?), i am going to make a point of not fast-forwarding to the end in my mind, and living each day as it happens.

between this resolution and my media diet, it’s going to be an interesting week!

moonlit
i think i’ve bulldozed my way through most of my moonlighting pay from 2 weeks ago, so it’s time for my personal shopping spree to STOP. thankfully, i have another shift coming up in october.

confession: i did end up ordering the betine dress, because i really REALLY want to try it on and feel like it would be perfect for the holiday season (yes, it’s not balmy warm in december in NC — but that’s what coats are for!). i promise to only keep it if it’s perfect!

and, after years of deliberation and wishy-washy resolve to get some BOOTS up in my closet, i finally bit the bullet and ordered these:

they are mid rather than full-length, which is on purpose. it may not be quite as classic, but i think the shape will look better with my short stubby limbs (i learned from this post that i am a ‘short-shinner’ to the extreme!).

i plan to wear them with straight or skinny jeans, dresses/skirts, and tights. i will definitely report back once these beauties arrive!

ingrid tonight!
i’m pumped for tonight’s concert with my li’l sis! i’m also taking her out for dinner for her birthday, 3 days before she hits the big 27. the only potential calamity is that i will be on backup call, carrying the hot potato otherwise known as the jeopardy pager! the chance that i could get called in is small, but i hate that it will be there at all. i may try to get someone to trade with me today . . .

recipes are not on the sidebar yet because i haven’t updated with this week’s cooking and training plans! i don’t know if anyone even looks at them (you don’t see them if you use reader), but just in case, i’ll do that tonight!

Haha &#39hot potato&#39–love that name! My intern on-call phone went off at the WORSE times this summer.

I was just thinking about how I&#39m wishing my life away yesterday during my run. I had a good post going in my head about it too!

Cute boots and I&#39m pumped to see how the dress looks on you!

i really like those boots; they are cute :).

and i agree, there&#39s a reason we have coats…plus, a lot of times places in the winter can be too warm. so a cute dress makes perfect sense.

    have fun at the concert!

Those muffins look amazing! I&#39m glad you&#39re enjoying your work…since it&#39s your future career! But nothing beats a day (or two…or three) off!

    Enjoy the concert!

Oooo…I think that broccoli salad looks DELICIOUS!!! Totally something I would love. Can&#39t wait to see the recipe. Have fun tonight.

I guess the good thing about a call rotation is that you really can&#39t isolate the weekends and wish away the rest…I barely know when the weekends are!
