chock full
i’m gonna tie your wrists with leather
and drill a tiny hole into your head.
— andrew bird, “fake palindromes”
ha. love that lyric, especially accompanied by strings and beautiful vocal delivery! when i bought tickets to the andrew bird concert scheduled for tonight in carrboro, i hadn’t realized that i’d still be feeling kind of wiped out and overwhelmed from a week of hectic traveling. part of me wants to bail! since the tickets are sold out, i think i could easily sell them on craigslist.
but then again . . . it’s andrew bird. the one other time i’ve seen him live, it was just amazing. so maybe his melodic crooning will actually turn out to be therapeutic. and i even traded away my night of backup call! so i think i am going to go.
morning pick-me-up
as i mentioned, i am feeling kind of overwhelmed! i’m not even sure why: the rotation i’m on certainly isn’t terribly strenuous. i do have a number of looming projects, but not really anything i can’t deal with.
what i really need is to turn this morning around. a run (about to do that in a few moments) will help, but this video REALLY forced me to crack a smile! watching this kid gyrate and slap his butt (just wait, it’s about 40 seconds in), i now feel like all is right with the world. you will, too. enjoy!

workout: 37 minutes (well, it worked out to 4 “miles”) on the elliptical + mini weights workout:
– pushups, 2 x 12
– squats with ball, 10 lb weights, 2 x 12
– lat pull-downs, 55 lbs, 2 x 12
– walking double lunges, 8 lb weights, 2 x 12
not quite doin’ time: 3-ingredient dinner (salt, pepper, and olive oil do not count!)
salmon, broccoli, sweet potato. simplicity at its best.
reading: i’ll admit it: i watched desperate housewives instead. i really needed a chill night!

This has nothing to do with anything, but thought you'd like to know (or want to kill me) … the antrhoplogie up the street now contains clothes. i predict it will open this month!
That little boy is kind of a good dancer. Makes you wonder where he learned it, though. The little girl was more my style – just flailing around.
love the video
That kid belongs on Dancing with the Stars! What energy!! And did you notice how his moves fit the lyrics? Amazing!
