the wrong shade of blue

a tarry night
not quite the intimate atmosphere of cameron indoor, huh?
i am glad i thought and wrote about factoring in fun the other day. several of your comments flashed before my eyes when josh text-paged me at 2 pm asking whether i wanted to go to the carolina/miami basketball game. he had come upon some tickets spur-of-the-moment, and wanted to go to root for his home team, despite that his surgical training is taking place in light blue territory.

i was between a wheezing 4-year-old and a hyper 2.5-year-old whose frenetic dancing had caused him to fall on his face, cutting his lip while i was in the room talking to mom about his eczema, and i was already fantasizing about crashing early, maybe after a glass of red wine. but josh was clearly excited, and i had already gotten in a run and my planned SENIOR TALK work done for the day, so i figured, why not? unplanned fun it was.

after dinner + beer at the loop (no pics — i figured you have all seen enough of this place since we go there so often!), we headed into the wintry mix (seriously) to UNC for the game. luckily, josh’s work parking spot provided (fairly) easy access to the stadium.

it ended up being a pretty close game, especially at the end of the second half. this didn’t stop me from getting SUPERsleepy (because i am 200 years old), but overall i still had lots of fun. my favorite part was playing photo-journalist. and seeing all of the tarheel fans brought out the duke fan in me. it was interesting taking it all in as an ‘outsider’.

hardcore carolina fans. i’ll take devil > ram any day!
the money shot: miami slam dunk!
close-up to showcase the looks of anguish/shock on the fans’ faces.
i’m a little tired this AM, but it was worth it. even if carolina did win 69 – 62.

product review: a blending of favorites
if two wrongs make a right, what do two rights make? after spotting them at my local whole foods, i was anxious to try tandoor chef‘s take on one of my favorite foods: PIZZA!

luckily, the blending of the two seemingly incongruous worlds of indian convenience foods and frozen pizza went off without a hitch. we tried the eggplant flavor, which had very slight indian flavor overtones, but nothing major. basically, it was delicious frozen pizza on a naan crust!

YUM. on par with amy’s kitchen as far as frozen pizza products go
nutrition/ingredient data:

certainly not so bad for pizza
even more ideal would be a whole wheat (or partially whole wheat) crust
overall, i definitely recommend trying these products if you see them! i will be on the lookout for the spinach and paneer cheese variety. mmmmmmm, paneer. just thinking about that makes my mouth water a little.

3.2.10

workout: 5 miles @ 9:13/mi, 0.5% incline. i STILL don’t feel recovered 100% from my cold, and have been taking workouts a little easier than planned. oh, and in case anyone was wondering? any plans of racing the tobacco road half coming up in a few weeks have been discarded. i’ll still be running it for fun, though!

reading/PROJECT SENIOR TALK: yes, i’m on schedule! finished up the initial batch of articles and created an outline (and sent it for attending review) yesterday. 13 days left . . .

How fun! I&#39d like to go to a UW basketball game sometime, but it&#39s so so so hard to get tickets. I&#39m sure you were lucky to get yours.
