Planners

things making me smile right now

June 25, 2012
getting to start a fresh planner today!
very excited to put my bound for anything planner into action!  i had to customize a little bit because i need space to plan out workouts/dinners/to-do items for the week.  we’ll see how this works out!  i’m going to be using a separate planner for organizing my work days, which will be an interesting experiment.  this little one is just for 6 months, so we’ll see how things go and reassess before january.
of note, i already made a mistake on these pristine pages – my first day back is thursday, not wednesday.  oops . . .
✿ operation pump + transport = a success

oz pumped while gone: 42.  oz consumed by babybel while gone: 44.   close enough!
the trip actually gave me a bit more confidence that i WILL be able to keep up supply wise when i go back to work.  obviously i still don’t have lots of excess, but if i fall just slightly behind i can rely on my stash and make up any deficits on weekends.  plus, i didn’t take fenugreek, eat oats, or do anything particularly pro-lactation this past weekend — and was traveling, which is stressful on the body.
the actual transport process was a breeze – i just packed my bottles into coolers (i used two of these, but instead of the special ice packs i just used plastic zip-locks of ice).  i left houston at 5:30 pm and arrived home about 5 hours later, and there was still plenty of ice left.  i was not forced to dump out my bags of ice at security, which was nice.  they did scan each bottle with some sort of machine but didn’t seem to open any of them up.  it was much easier than i had anticipated!
the hardest part was pumping in airport bathrooms, which i did x 3:  before leaving NC, upon arrival in TX, and before leaving TX.  in two of three cases i was able to find a family restroom which was nice and private.  not fun, but again — not as nightmarish as i thought.  i would do it again and be much nervous about it next time!
✿ poster presentation — check
and, i think it went pretty well — i got a good amount of traffic and didn’t flounder too much on people’s questions.  at the very least, i think mine looked kind of pretty 🙂
proof i was there:

✿ SOMEONE is sleeping really well lately.  both at night and for naps!
she’s also LAUGHING!  i’m sad i missed her first real giggles, but it was a wonderful thing to come home to!

✿ orla kiely cupcakes
i mean, aren’t these just the happiest things you’ve ever seen?  by british bakery nibble + scoff.

all in all, i’m glad i took my little trip even though i was absolutely filled with dread on the outset.  3 more days of SAHM-life!  i have a massage booked for weds [a will hang out in day care for a bit 🙂 ].  might as well enjoy a grand finale of sorts . . .

Glad the trip went well. Best of luck when you go back to work. I’m sure it’ll be simultaneously easier and harder than you expect!

SO glad your trip went well. We took a family vacation with my family two weeks ago and I pumped multiple times in airport bathrooms. Not the most glamorous thing I have ever done but it worked, ha! Your little girl is so adorable.
