wedding weekend away // BOSTON

April 4, 2016

This weekend lived up to expectations, even with my bruised face/black eye.  Lots of time with friends, but also time for rest and rejuvenation.  We had less than 48 hours in Boston, but it felt longer.  And the truth is that even airport time starts to feel really leisurely (and actually somewhat romantic!) when you are a couple normally awash in the toddler/preschooler years.

We are headed back to reality — and A&C, who we did miss!  But yes, it was really nice to rest and reconnect and care for ourselves (rather than others) for a little while.   A quick run-down, for posterity:
FRIDAY
Drinks & dinner with college friends.  At Josh’s request (he had a great meal 15 years ago and wanted to go back!) we enjoyed Afghan cuisine at Hellmand.  It was great!  And very interesting — sort of a melding of middle eastern and Indian flavors.
Pre-wedding cocktails in Brookline with friends + bride & groom
SATURDAY
Lovely run along the Charles with one of my BBFs (astute readers of both blogs have probably identified the connection)
Breakfast at Thinking Cup (post-run breakfast sandwiches are the best)
Mani/Pedi at Miniluxe (dark lilac nails & gold toes)
Shopping at Aesop on Newbury St. (went in because one of my friends works for the brand, but then was enticed and bought some really amazing-smelling products — excited to put them to use)
Lunch at Piattini
NAP (YES)
Wedding!!  So much fun — lots of dancing, drinks, and many mini lobster rolls!
Bedtime just before midnight.  Which for me is . . . LATE!
SUNDAY
Breakfast at Flour  which I have wanted to try since reading about it waaaaay back in the day on Carrots n Cake (which I haven’t read in years, but I still remembered Tina’s references to their famous granola bar and wanted IN on that action)
Airport reading:  Me Before You (so far, light and fluffy – appropriate plane reading, I suppose)
Looking forward to seeing A&C, hearing all about their weekend adventures, and settling back into our routine — but feeling a little bit refreshed compared to before we left.

Aw, warms my heart to hear that 2 of my favourite bloggers are BBFs and that you got a chance to meet up and enjoy a run together!

Being a Boston area suburbanite, I can say good call, Josh, on Helmand, and Flour is definitely awesome! Glad you had a fun weekend here, too bad the weather wasn’t exactly spring-like!

Am I the only one so curious to find out who is your blogger friend? 😉

<3 Helmand. I hang out in that neighborhood generally 2x a year for work.
