My desk is a mess, my email is a mess, and whatever the opposite of organized is — that’s how I feel about next week.
But no regrets – it was a nice weekend. Last night Josh and I went out (lovely impromptu dinner at his parents’ after visiting his grandmother in the hospital). And today, we had a full day — both kids played in their first basketball games! — followed by a play date / dinner at our house. We just finished cleaning up / putting kids to bed and I have no interest in using my prefrontal cortex (where the planning happens) whatsoever. SO: tomorrow AM will be go time.
To do in AM (alarm will be set for 4 I think, a whole extra hour because I really need it!):
- Migrate to-dos / figure out what needs to be done next week
- Rough dinner plans / grocery list & put on family calendar board
- Pay bills and possibly do Everydollar audit (but probably will push this off)
- WORK INBOX triage / responses / cleanout
- GMAIL INBOX triage / responses / cleanout
- Sort / go through giant pile of mail on desk
- Write quick post (obvs)
- Possibly workout if there is extra time (doubtful)
Going to bed to make the above plan feasible . . . wish me luck!

Hi, your weekend sounds like it was a good one, but I totally understand the feeling of being way behind come Monday morning. I hope you have time to get caught up! I wanted to ask your opinion on EveryDollar – I have actually been using YNAB for the last 2 months and I really like it, but my free trial is about to end and I need to decide whether to pay the $80 or use another app. I know you used to use YNAB (I think?) so I am curious to hear your opinion on the two apps, what you like, don’t like, if they are comparable. Thanks!
I am using EveryDollar now (as opposed to YNAB) and am fine with it. They are similar. There’s a little more manual adjusting at the end of the month needed to ‘zero’ out EveryDollar, but it’s not bad 🙂 I say try ED first since it’s free!!
I chose to sleep in (I use that term loosely) rather than get up and plan for my day/week and I am so regretting it!! I feel behind / on the defensive!
i tried YNAB like it wonder how it is in ED
Oh man, I felt exactly the same way last night, but feeling much more in control after some short/long-term planning this morning, and some goal setting for the week. Our weekends have been very fun lately, but that leaves little time for actually getting those nagging things done and its piling up. We have one more very full weekend ahead and then hopefully I’ll spend a few hours at the end of the month doing “home admin” and organization to deal with our new school year routines/activities/etc…
Right there with you, Sarah. Am hoping to turn the corner with this nanny thing soon so I can relax, er, do work.
