COVID19 Weekend

Day 90: The One In Which I Accidentally Napped for 2.5 hours

June 13, 2020

Ahh well. Had grand plans for G’s nap time but I suppose they can wait for tomorrow. (They will have to!)

I did get a chance to play with some pens (Sharpie pens . . . where have you been all my life?) and a journal sent to me all the way from Australia. The photo below is a page from a brand new custom planner/journal by YukiYak, which owner Brett sent to me for feedback.

Fun custom planner idea

His designs would be great for someone who wants a bullet journal-like layout BUT does not want to spend a lot of time or effort drawing lines & scaffolds. The paper is nice and smooth and does much better with marker/gel type pens than my beloved Hobonichi. If you are in the market for something like this, check his site out (particularly my Australian readers — I know there are not many of you, but there are some!). If you are interested in ordering, mention SHU-KIT in the comments of your design survey for 10% off!

G’s “monster”

ANYWAY. That nap was . . . really not the best thing for today’s productivity. But it was pretty glorious post-leg day & pool w/ the kids.

More tomorrow.

Ooooooh that sounds like an amazing combo … but does it smear??? I love Rhodia but find it very smear prone! (And Iโ€™m left handed so …)

Sarah, even *I* know about sharpie pens. Haha!! They are pretty amazing though arenโ€™t they?

HAHA. I always had the thick permanent markers but never the pens! They are great!

I love the idea of that planner. Can we buy it here in the USA or just in Australia?

Hi Linsday! YukiYak is a tiny company that is just starting up, so he may be able to ship! Not 100% sure. Check out his website, design a journal, and see what the options are ๐Ÿ™‚

Looking forward to it! (When you’re ready… I won’t go back to work until the new academic year, but I hope to pick up some tips.)

I also took a 2.5 hour nap on Saturday. Solidarity, sister! Sometimes you just need a solid nap. I did not sleep well the night before so was really struggling. And I had 10k steps by noon on Saturday between taking our son for a walk/to the park (they are open now!) and doing a ton of meal prep. So I felt slightly less guilty! I’ve done a lot of solo parenting over the last several weeks as my husband worked on building a new deck with a contractor friend so I let him get our son up from the nap and deal with snack/etc. It was really nice! ๐Ÿ˜›

Ooh, sharpie pens! I haven’t tried those either. Nice that they did not smear. I still use a bullet journal but I have majorly scaled down what I put in the planner and almost exclusively use it for meal planning… I used to make so many different pages but after having our son, I scaled way way way back and just focus on the essentials. It’s worked well but someday when I am in the mood to plan more I will have to search out a planner based on your recommendations. I do love planning but I am not at allll crafty and can’t draw/write nicely. So my bullet journal is not instagrammable! Ha.
