Appreciative Inquiry Etc

October 22, 2020

Yesterday was much better. Thankfully! I had a good patient day, a lovely resident, completed all outstanding notes, and took care of some other nagging things.

We also got our residency applications for the next academic year. Just 1000+ to sift through (eek). Even though this is my first ‘virtual’ interview cycle, I am comforted by the fact that I have done this before. (Once before as PD, and twice before that as Associate PD!).

I am learning about Appreciative Inquiry for my coaching class (I am doing a class called Wellcoaches as part of an effort to bring a coaching program to the residents at our institution). It’s totally fascinating to me as someone who has always been interested in psychology and even almost at one point considered a career in psychiatry (but didn’t — thankfully I realized I am not patient enough for that!).

I would write more, but I just lost half of this post (apparently WordPress upgraded the editor but . . . thus far, this does not seem like an improvement).

ANYWAY, my thought is that AI has some definite parallels with my style of . . . yep . . . PLANNING! Envisioning an idealized future, physically drawing it out, scheming as to how to many my desired vision a reality . . .

Well, my time is more than up but I do want to announce I am early voting today! Fellow Floridians, get those ballots in!

Sarah, no idea if you have any control over the ads but I wanted to tell you that I’m getting a series of RNC ads on your banner…. I haven’t noticed that before.

AGHGHGH! Someone else reported a republican ad, too. I have “political ads” opted out via BlogHer so I’m not sure how many sneak through!?!?!? Not sure what else to do to fix this!
