Weekend

Lean Into It

October 25, 2020

We did not go to Butterly World yesterday (it turned out A’s friend’s mother was asking about today).

We DID spent 2 hours at the playground, which was great.

And today it has been rainy (so again, no BW). Initially I was annoyed at life — I had slept in, skipped my workout, etc. But then I just told the kids today was officially Lazy Sunday, and you know what?

Embracing that has been quite lovely. We’ve played mood music (Matthew Berniger, Raye Zaragoza – the latter I discovered on All Songs Considered as usual & she’s SO GOOD) and I just spent the morning tidying up and just generally hanging out and cleaning up messes/etc without feeling like I needed to be doing really anything else. It has been nice.

Also, G seems to have aged years in the past few weeks. She figured out how to climb out of her crib (nap was a little dicey today but did end up happening) and is starting to be more independent about everything else.

Now to wake up G and snuggle with her so she doesn’t want to stay up until 10p. Need to find a good Halloween movie that all 3 will like . . . suggestions welcome!

PS: LagLiv just posted an update! Was just thinking of her!

    Halloween movie recs:

The Nightmare Before Christmas (streaming on Disney +)

    Frankenweenie, 2012 version (ditto)

Also, of course, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! (on Apple Plus, if you have it)

Seconding Nightmare Before Christmas – was a hit for our family today (though I did not watch a single second of it despite being in view of the TV)

Annabel is reading the book in class! Good call! (Though she says she is scared of seeing the head witch’s face!)
