Here you go. Yesterday in all of its glory. I did not work nearly as many hours (simply did not have it in me!) and used some break time in between meetings for rest and personal things like meditation and a (short) walk with Annabel who was home sick.
(Yes, we are dealing with more viral #@*#& in our house. 2/3 have been COVID tested and were negative, so thankfully it is not that! The other has not been tested because logic would suggest they have exactly what the others had given very similar symptoms and timing).
((Times like these are when I am so incredibly grateful to still have full time childcare. Clearly we still need it!))
RANDOM THINGS:
1- I canceled my Beachbody membership because I really do like the Peloton workouts. I know. I figure I can always go back. I am actually focusing more on running right now (and seeing some mild improvements!) and so I’m not really looking for a strength ‘program’ per se but rather workouts to do 2-3x/week. I have been honestly impressed with the quality of the instruction and specifically the yoga!
Right now I am aiming for 4 runs (2 with speed/tempo portions), 2 strength days, and 1 yoga recovery day (on the weekend). The online Peloton access is $13/month which is similar to what I was paying for Beachbody.
(My Peloton “name” is theSHUbox. Thankfully not taken yet ๐ )
2- KID BEDTIME is a focus right now. It has been a mess. However, last night I had them ALL IN BED AT 8 PM. It was nothing short of a miracle. The important part was getting everyone upstairs early (like 7:20) . . . imagine that. We read 3 books for G and then half a chapter of Harry Potter, and I was out of there. I am hoping this leads too less grumpiness in the morning. It was definitely good for MY mental health and patience!

Have you tried the peloton running workouts? They are outstanding. Matt Wilpers is a particularly great choice if youโre looking for suggestions.
I may try out the free trial on Peloton. Heading into the summer I have more time to workout, so it might be nice to mix it up and try something new. Thanks for the suggestion!
I just started a BB membership and plan to give it about a year and then decide what is next. I have heard great things about Peloton, though! I have to modify so much right now as I’m seeing a PT for pelvic floor issues so I’m looking forward to being able to do all the ab stuff in the workouts. Right now I can’t do any crunching stuff. But I’m glad I’m seeing a PT and getting back to full health now that I know we are DONE having kids and I’ll never be pregnant again! Yay! ๐
Bummer about A being sick. We had such a nice long healthy stretch during covid and it came to a screeching halt this past month – we’ve had 2 different colds and the stomach flu in the past month! Blech.
Oh boy…. welcome to the Peloton fam! I started with the app many years ago (5… or maybe even 6??). Then I got a cheap stationary bike and hacked the spin classes together. Then, finally, after 3+ years of daily classes, I took the plunge and bought the bike. I was so embarrassed by the “bougie-ness” of it that I kept my purchase secret for over a year. I finally realized, though, that I worked hard for it and use it 5+ times a week for years….I.ADORE.IT. Best decision I’ve made in a long time… and when you add the benefit of their top quality yoga, strength, stretching, running and bootcamp workouts, well, I couldn’t be happier with it ๐
If anyone is on the fence about the app, just give it a try. It’s awesome! They are also starting to put together more “programs” which is a nice perk too.
How do you shower and get ready so fast? I can’t seem to get that less than an hour and feel good getting out the door.
I love following you! You are very motivating with everything you have going on and hearing how you manage it all! Thanks for sharing!
I always get asked this ๐ I shower in less than 10 min (I listen to Up First in the shower at 1.5 speed and if it gets to the end, I know I need to get out!). I get dressed and do 5 min of makeup. I tend to wear the same ‘uniform’ type outfits all of the time. I do basically nothing to my hair (I get it Japanese straightened every 6 months so while my hair is boring it isn’t too messy).
A process for getting ready too! I love it! Thanks ๐
I saw this comment and was taken back: wait I didnโt remember commenting on this post, but itโs another Elisabeth with an โsโ – ha!
There aren’t many of us out there! My grandmother was Dutch and I’m named after her.
Funnily enough, I switched to Peloton a few weeks ago after being a diehard BOD fan – and I like it a lot too! The variety of the classes and ability to pick the length is so great (I usually do 20 minute ones with some dance cardio/stretch thrown in for 10 minutes after.) Chelsea Jackson-Roberts is an amazing yoga teacher on Peloton if you haven’t discovered her classes yet. You just prompted me to cancel my BOD membership for now too.
