On the plus side, the sun is lovely. It has been really dry and for that I have been grateful.
Annabel had her 4th soccer game (out of 7 in the season). She is definitely still learning but is a fast runner and I was impressed at how hard she appeared to be trying.
My sun defense strategy: approximately 3 layers sunscreen, UPF shirt, sun-umbrella, giant bottle of ice water. Spritz of bug spray for good measure. It worked reasonably well.
G continued to express her preference to skip her own soccer. Which was ultimately fine with me.
AND C moved up a level in tennis.
Josh is working this weekend and honestly I feel like mostly what I did all day was clean up toys strewn around the house and wipe down the kitchen table again but I guess we did a lot. I also ran in the AM, did our April audit + May budget setup in YNAB. Oh, and I finished Greenwood! OMG, what a great book though I am not sure I loved the ending. (Interestingly, 2/3 of the last 3 books I read featured dust storms in the 1930s and 2/3 featured families followed through multiple generations. Homegoing, The Four Winds, Greenwood. This was a really wonderful string of novels).

Yay! Sounds like a solid weekend and I am very impressed with your sun defense skills.
I made a similar easy lunch the other day- diced and roasted a sweet potato, then threw it in a pan with some green peas and chickpeas and added Trader Joe’s masala sauce. Soooooooo filling and yummy!
Would love to hear your meal plan for the week!
I’m actually using PrepDish this week –
M – steak, green beans, baked potatoes
T – shrimp cobb salad
W – chicken cacciatore with steamed broc
R – portabello mushrooms stuffed with chickpeas, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes & goat cheese
F – leftovers 🙂
I’m impressed with the outdoor tennis in Florida. I guess maybe it’s not THAT hot yet, being only May. But one year when we were in Panama City Beach in August, we decided to go play some tennis around 10 am. OMG. We literally melted. We couldn’t last for more than about 10 minutes. hahaha! I think the material in the tennis courts must attract the sun/heat even more than most or something!
If you want to keep the streak going you might like The Dry by Jane Harper. It was a MMD summer reading guide book a couple years ago. 🙂
Actually, the dust storm one is The Lost Man (although The Dry is also very good).
Woah – what a productive weekend. I feel ya about constantly picking up toys and cleaning messes – total Groundhog’s Day.
Any UPF shirt recs??
I actually got mine from Uniqlo! It’s super thin so not hot. https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-airism-uv-protection-long-sleeve-t-shirt-432468COL60SMA003000.html?glCountry=US&glCurrency=USD&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvr6EBhDOARIsAPpqUPH_9SR4DWDqACO_IeRXIO6sNrP_QlBF-CdV_8XBhgRPM3cT92-gYLQaArBFEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Sharing the UPF love…two other good brands that have quality UPF clothing are Athleta and Free Fly. Uniqlo has the best prices! But I own, wear, and can recommend all 3. 🙂
I have an Athleta UPF shirt too! It’s great but definitely thicker (and a dark color – my fault) which is not as good for heat deflection!
I highly recommend checking out #Hardcore on the floor group on Facebook for Peloton strength programing. It provides a monthly calendar with a good balance
