The little things . . .
I took C&G for an evening walk around the block yesterday. Our reward was a double rainbow! (The second one is faint in this photo but definitely was there IRL).
Maybe it was a sign to get out more often.
I pulled up Kacey Musgraves’ “Rainbow” on Spotify and played it several times. It was really a lovely moment.
Yesterday I basically sat down for 9+ hours and caught up on multiple GME projects (graduation, orientation, and even pounded out an application for a research grant that I probably won’t get but was worth a shot). It is amazing how much more energy I had for work after a break.
CURRENTLY READING: Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste.
CURRENTLY PLANNING IN: this stack: Silk + Sonder journal, Full Focus Planner, and an old Culltivate What Matters goal setting notebook (though I am planning to start a new one for the back half of 2021!).
CURRENTLY THINKING ABOUT GETTING: A summer jumpsuit. I like the cut of this one from Marine Layer but I am not sure about the color on me.
TODAY’S WORKOUT: 3 x 1 mile @ “threshold” which is like ~9:30/mi right now. Wish me luck!
WORK: Full day of patients – first in over a week. Hopefully my post-vac energy will continue to be high.

I, too, have been toying with a summer jumpsuit from Marine Layer (this one: https://www.marinelayer.com/collections/all/products/eloise-belted-jumpsuit-black?variant=39259650326602) but haven’t pulled the trigger. Have you ever bought from them before? They keep showing up on Instagram and while I’m usually good at resisting, their ads are very persistent… I say give it a go! Different than my (and probably your) summer uniform and fun to mix it up. Glad you feel rejuvenated after some time away!
I love things like rainbows that feel like good omens. Random, but here in Colorado there are hot air balloons this time of year. Seeing one always feels like a bit of magic.
Did you already buy a CWM? I bought and didn’t use and am trying to offload it lol
Haha yes sorry!
Isn’t it glorious when time away provides a needed recharge; it really does take some concentrated time to notice much impact but there is this wave of relief when I realize: “I’m not crazy and unable to concentrate; my body and mind just really needed a break!”
I find it validating that vacations and time away from the desk/kids etc really do make a huge difference to my physical and mental wellbeing.
