Yesterday included a couple of kid-meltdowns (being real here!) but the kids got to spend time with Aunt Bec, grandparents + baby M, so I would call it a win.
We are going to bundle up as best we can today + head to Duke Gardens (site of our wedding – except that day was 90 degrees). My kids really need to run around OUTSIDE.
(I forgot how much I hate cold weather. I know I complain about our oppressive summers, but I actually hate winter more.)
I would also looooove to stop here but I think going with all 3 kids in tow is a recipe for utter frustration.
Notable planner-related sales: (not affiliates or anything, just things I noticed!)
Karina has some amazing deals @ Honeypress – she is sending an email daily with a new deal. Also, this Campus daily planner is $6 and could be repurposed into a cute wellness or time tracking notebook for a monthlong challenge.

Notes from yesterday:
I got several heartfelt emails related to yesterday’s podcast, mostly those sharing similar challenges. I have two comments:
1- I am usually a “moderator” and love the suggestion to moderate by paring down my follow list significantly. BUT, Insta now dishes out LOTS of extra content, including things I never asked to see. Ads, Reels, Etc. I wish they didn’t. I don’t think I can successfully moderate Insta very well. I have tried!
2- Staying in touch with friends/school activities/etc. Currently for this I use regular text chains (admittedly MUCH better if everyone is using an Apple device – but in the two text threads I participate in most frequently, that is the case). School and neighborhood chat groups in my area are typically through WhatsApp. I am very grateful for this, as I find WhatsApp very functional and not problematic (for me), because you subscribe to your threads AND THAT’S ALL YOU GET.
META owns WhatsApp and if they change that about the platform, I will leave.
ANYWAY! Happy Tuesday, and I’m glad the episode resonated with some!

Enjoy your visit! As always, thank you for providing a nice forum for “normal parents” 🙂 Hope you enjoy more sweet moments with the kids!! (And fewer tantrums!)
It’s good to be reminded that you hate cold weather more than your hot Florida weather. That’s a healthy dose of perspective. We are entering the cold time of year, and it can be quite extreme here in Minnesota. It’s really hard when you have little kids. We will go out w/ them if it’s not too windy but this past week has been horribly windy so we have been cooped up quite a bit recently which is not good for anyone!! That is why we really need to go somewhere in February or March ideally. I find we need a break from the extreme cold and need to feel sunshine and go outside without a 1,000 layers! So I’m hoping and praying our Feb trip to Tucson works out.
Enjoy the rest of your visit and I hope the plane ride home goes very smoothly or as smoothly as it can with 3 kids!!
My sister lives in South Carolina and their weather seems pretty perfect; she’ll often send pictures of her kids in shorts on Christmas Day, but they have nice springs/falls as well.
I loathe winter. Always have, always will. We love where we live, but if we were going to move, it would be for a warmer climate. Snow gear is the worst. Ice, the worst. Snow days, ugh!
Good luck on the return trip.
Your first point is why I eventually left all social media platforms. For a really long time it worked well for me by being ruthless and minimalist about who I followed, but now all of the big three push too much stuff to me that I flat-out don’t want to see…news headlines, suggested groups, related accounts, reshares. It’s too much to manage and I kept finding myself feeling really angry about my head and emotions being continually weighed down with content I had not asked to see, would never have sought out, and had no ability to turn off.
