FLL -> RDU

November 20, 2021

AHH! First family travel in forever.

(FLL = Fort Lauderdale, our preferred airport because it’s closer and about 37434 times less chaotic than MIA)

(RDU = Raleigh Durham, the airport I’ve probably flown into and out of the most times in my life and which I have a continued attraction to, because it’s small and manageable and filled with memories)

TO DO:

Work out — EPIC Day 23.

Pack

Leave by ~9 am for 10:55 flight. We have TSA PreCheck so I figure the lines can’t be too terrible. Right!?

This isn’t my first flight since March 2020 – I went to visit my niece + sister in March of 2021. However, it’s our first family flight in nearly 3 years, I think! Someone yesterday asked me how my kids were on planes, and I basically told them that I have no idea! I’m not even sure when the last family plane travel was. It may have been DECEMBER 2018 (trip to PHL)? I had a 1 year old then. And now G is 3 weeks away from being 4. ((#*&#$, need to get the birthday invites out.)

airport shot from December 2018!

Maybe I’ll be able to get G to recreate the above.

Wish us luck!

PS: Talk is over. I’m SO HAPPY IT’S DONE!

    Have a good trip! I can’t believe G is almost 4. I bet if you ask her she’s be glad to recreate that photo. I know Dyl would have been into it.

    So glad the talk is over for you which will likely help you better unwind and ease into this holiday. I hope the airplane travel went smoothly; I have a hunch it will feel ~10,000X easier now that the kids are older.

    I’m so glad you’re getting to spend this time with family and hope this Thanksgiving is your best to date! Last Christmas was my favourite Christmas ever, and I’m trying to leave myself open to the fact that even in the middle of this busy season (career, small kids), there can be some really great moments – sometimes it feels like the best years of my life are behind me (I LOVED my time in university), but getting older does provide a new perspective and moments can still feel light and youthful and vibrant even with all the hectic chaos of life in the middle of a pandemic.

    All that to say: hope it’s a fantastic time!
