To be home (not planning on solo travel with the kids anytime soon. Maybe when everyone is 8 or older.)
To be done with making pies (why yes, that is a link to my defunct recipe blog from 2005! Still comes in handy!). Well, about to be in the oven.
To have gotten to see my parents + sister + niece, even if much of the trip wasn’t exactly fun while it was happening
To iPads, for making the plane trip home bearable (though still REALLY really hard)
To my husband, who picked us up from the airport and skipped his guitar class and put the kids to bed because I literally could not parent another minute.
To all of you! Who always have so many wonderful insights and perspectives to share. THANK YOU.
PS: You know what’s harder than getting 3 kids to smile at the same time?
Lol. Happy thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! I an grateful for your blog, which I read every day
Happy Thanksgiving Sarah! Thanks for always keeping it real about parenting. I really appreciate your blog. You deserve a medal for solo parenting 3 kids through the airport!!
Such a sweet photo. It really is impossible to get all kids to look and smile at the same time.
The part about it not always being fun resonated with me. I am grateful that family gatherings are somewhat back but it also brings in the parts that aren’t fun and i think it’s good to remember. I know i am trying to remember that connecting my with my family and friends is the most important part.
Happy Thanksgiving! Is that your sister’s place? It’s so bright and cheerful, I love all the colors!
Aww what a lovely (and honest) post. Last Christmas we took our 6 week old and 3 year old on a 2 day drive to visit my family for the holidays and my feelings were the same. Not as fun as I’d hoped, very exhausting, but as Laura would say my remembering self is so glad we did it. Anyway I’m grateful to you for making this blog, one of my favourite things on the internet 🙂 Enjoy your thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you were able to get a bit of rest today!
Happy Thanksgiving Sarah and all readers 😊
Followed the link to the recipe on your old blog and now I’m curious – what did the name of your recipe blog mean/stand for? I didn’t follow you yet back then.
Oh my goodness, this is so embarrassing. It was “lost and all alone” because I started it on a whim while on an away rotation in medical school. I thought it would be a fun project for a month or so … ha!!! I was 24.
